If you had a time machine and could travel back to the night you were conceived and prevent it happening, would you?

yes, i've had some wild times, some good times & bad times but i'd do it to prevent my kids, grandkids from having to somehow cope with the worsening times, that i see ahead of them.

A bit sad that a few people answered "yes" but as Kafirah states the "grandfather paradox" precludes this.

My life ain't great, I'm not that special, and I'm not a gift to humanity or anyone else except for the three amazing young women that I gave birth to and the children that they have produced. I know I have made a difference, and I humbly think it has been to the benefit of at least a few people. I will go to the grave knowing my life such as it is has been worthwhile and no one will ever convince me otherwise.

That's called the Grandfather Paradox. The answer is no, even if someone answers yes. The reason is that if you were able to prevent your own conception you therefore wouldn't exist to grow up and use a time machine to go back in time and prevent your conception, because there never would have been a you to begin with.

Nah. For one, my folks were the planned family type, so they would have kept trying for another sprog. No net reduction in environmental impact, and someone else would get my butthead dad inflicted on them. Seems unfair.
Plus, though life is pretty unrelenting right now, I've experienced some magnificent shit in my time. On balance, I'm one lucky dude.
