Vegetarians and vegans: Would you date an Omnivore?
I was 100% vegetarian at one point and was married to an omnivore. Then dated one. Then had a health issue that made me severely anemic and I chose to start eating some meat again. Now, I'm a light weight omni living with a hardcore carnivore (I mean, he also eats bread, lol) and we're figuring out how to make it work.
Of course. My wife is an omnivore. She's also a christian.
My SO is now mostly vegetarian eating about 90% plant-based. I did not tell him to become or make him vegan but I only cook and bake plant-based dishes (of course, veganism isn't just about food). He can cook or eat whatever he wants on his own if he likes. He chooses not to eat meat and he only eats a small amount of dairy products. We both enjoy our meals and the health benefits.
If for some reason I'm back on the dating scene looking for a new partner, I would NOT date an omni. I almost cannot go to a restaurant with friends anymore if they eat meat. I almost cannot go to a restaurant/home that serves meat. I'm just fine being alone if my only other choice is to be with someone who eats meat (vegetarians might be kinda sorta ok).
@powder My SO rarely eats meat. May be just some fish bits in sushi which he buys only now and then. He does use cheese, mayo, cream cheese, and sour cream. That’s almost the extent of animal products he eats. Sometimes he buys cookies that might have eggs and milk. I don’t worry what he gets out there when he’s not home but he gets vegetarian meals usually. Where we live it’s difficult to get some vegan versions of cheese and other dairy products and I haven’t perfected vegan cheese yet (and I don’t like cheese flavour anyway). The options are improving though.
If they can make a solid case for why they eat meat but not try to persuade me that I should too, and only eat meat they've made sure is produced as humanely and environmentally soundly as possible, yes, and I have done.
They'd have to clean their teeth before kissing me, though!
