Both Pelosi and Gabby Gifford’s are Typical gun control nuts and would likely do everything in their power to ban virtually all guns so some criticism from the gun rights people is definitely warranted. If it wasn’t for groups like the NRA we would have likely been stripped of a lot of our gun rights already. Hell the current democrat house is calling for a national gun registry which is always the first step in gun confiscation.

So do you think that the NRA has the right to make them targets, given the rash of recent gun killing going on around the country at an ever increasing rate.

"Compared to 22 other high-income nations, the U.S. gun-related murder rate is 25 times higher. Although it has half the population of the other 22 nations combined, the U.S. had 82 percent of all gun deaths, 90 percent of all women killed with guns, 91 percent of children under 14 and 92 percent of young people between ages 15 and 24 killed with guns" Wikipedia

@cava If you look at the meme closely you will see that the gun owners are the targets not Pelosi or Gifford. Newsweek is a liberal piece of shit and therefore very unreliable.

anytime you have weapons, you will have abuse...

With the current government, they think that they can get away with anything.

I recall a time when the NRA was all about gun safety courses. Their leadership has corrupted the organization. They are well aware that a lot of people rarely read past the headline. I am a gun owner. My kids are gun owners. I believe most Americans are. We are Americans after all. There is no reason we can't have sensible gun laws. I don't believe any reasonable gun owner would align with today`s NRA.

I completely agree. I come from a long line of hunters and we always had guns in the house. We were taught at an early age to respect guns and always assume one is loaded. Both my brother and I took gun training classes in 6th grade and I had my daughters take them as well.

My dad is usually pretty conservative but I assumed he would be for sensible gun laws. I asked him about it and he absolutely agreed (and then went into a rant that we should build the wall, can't win them all I guess). I do think most gun owners are for sensible laws.

Actually, I think those that hunt (for food) would agree with sensible laws. But I also know crazy gun nuts that like to buy guns (presumably to show how big their dick is) simply to have a bunch to shoot and make noise.

I’m a life member of the NRA as is my son and 2 grandsons. If you are a gun owner you should be supporting the NRA as without them we will lose our gun rights in spite of the 2nd amendment.

@Trajan61 I have been hearing that my whole life. Believe it or not, rights are not "endowed by our creator". They are fought for & come with responsibility & common sense. Todays NRA seems to be lacking in that respect.

@Della I never said anything about rights endowed by the creator. Unfortunately if we want to keep our gun rights we’re going to have to fight for them.

, @Marcie1974 I disagree with you totally about most gun owners wanting more restrictions on our gun rights. I respect your dad about his view in building the wall.

@Trajan61 I did not say there would be restrictions on YOUR rights....assuming you are not a felon or have major mental issues. No one came to take your guns the 8 years Obama was in office.

Can you at least admit there is an issue in the United States with gun violence?

As for my dad's view on building the wall...basically he thinks brown people are scary. Not much to respect about that.

@Marcie1974 I have no problem with the Latino’s but they definitely contribute to the overpopulation problem so if we don’t have good border we will be overrun with them.

1

Intentional or not they shouldn’t have even ventured this as a caption, what are they paying there PR people for but to avoid such situations.

1

I despise the NRA but I can see both sides of this. Especially if you read below the title.

I can't.

@cava then why did you like my comment?

@mooredolezal Because I can understand your position, even though I don't agree with it.

@cava I am more prone to go with your point of view, I just don't feel sure enough to make accusations.

1

Fuck the NRA.

Are you talking about this picture? It clearly explains in the sub-headline that Gun Owners are the target NOT Pelosi or Giffords. Or is there something else?

No, you got it. Many, including Pelosi's daughter think that the juxtaposition of the headline with their photos was by design.

@RawBacons I have been around plenty of people of which include both gun control and 2nd amendment advocates. There are extreme individuals in any group. Extreme reactions are somewhat understandable when one group is attempting to encroach upon or take away from another. Since you identified yourself as a gun owner, what kind of gun do own, do you own only one and why do you have it/them?

@RawBacons do you really believe the government will turn against us? Well, I guess perhaps the current regime.

Your one of the few sensible ones on this website.

2

The NRA is a despicable organization that deliberately increases the potential for violence so that the organization and the gun manufacturers can benefit financially.

3

And what's the question about them being a terrorist group? Haven't enough people died because of their agenda to show that's exactly what they are.

I have a sign clearly posted along my driveway that says This is a gun free property - NRA cowards not welcome. We need to practice discrimination not only against the dis-organization but against their supportive members as well. Times like these discrimination should be sanctioned.

3

Maybe misleading by design. The whole idea is as distasteful as anyone drawing rifle target crosshairs over anyone else's picture. Palin and Stone in particular have done this in the past. Nutjobs thinking they are helping the common good take this literally.

When actually looking at the Newweek posted picture, the "message" is not a threat against Nancy Pelosi and Gabby Giffords. Its intent seem obvious when it says, "Congressional Democrats Target gun owners...", which is very different from the implication in the post above, which is very misleading.

Well I don't, they designed the cover to be provocative to their tigger happy readers.

@cava They are, after all, preaching to their own choir. Why does that bother you? Do you subscribe to their magazine?

@dahermit Yes, anything the gun industry and their lackey, the NRA promotes should and does offend any person who values human life and decency. Just because we don't subscribe to their crappy, vitriolic rag doesn't mean it's non of our business. It is the business of any rational, caring civilized person.

@dahermit No, I'm not one of their 2.2 million subscribers.. I don't like to see veiled threats made against public figures, especially when the threats are coming from a well recognized media source.

I see both sides of this. It is certainly insensitive at best.

@dahermit they are preaching to their own choir? Then why do we all know about it? You seem quite clueless as to how the internet works. Especially for one with your academic prowess.

2

hard to believe NRA would use threats to intimidate a critic . . Oops sorry . . . Hard to believe that the wouldn't use teats to intimidate critics.

I'm always intimidated by teats.

@PalacinkyPDX My kids actually were real targets of communist scum as we defected. This whole brouhaha is just noise against a great organization.

@PalacinkyPDX What do you mean, please clarify.

@maturin1919 Respectfully disagree. In my opinion the NBA is great, extremely useful and a highly moral group of people

@PalacinkyPDX Her kids are not public figures. [en.wikipedia.org]

@zesty As a lifetime member, the NRA is not a "great" organization...it is in fact, a Right-Wing organization that supports gun rights but also (unfortunately) is an organ of Conservatism.

@maturin1919 Sorry for the typo

@zesty I feel sad that your children were targeted that sounds horrific.

However - I'm confused why that makes it okay for a threatening ad to be placed in such a powerful organization.
Why do they get a pass?

@RavenCT

Thank you for the kind words. This is the socialist way.

It was not proven that it is threatening.

@zesty Just so everyone can look at the photo and see what is being defended as "not proven".

@greyeyed123 Oh that's terrible graphic placement. Someone was asleep at the wheel.
Or it was very deliberate.

It's never just one pair of eyes for a layout.

@zesty oh I really don't know socialism well then?

I was allergic to the NRAs rhetoric. They creeped me out during my few months receiving their member mailings. They were a big nope for me.

@greyeyed123 There is nothing threatening for Pelosi! What is wrong with it? The old bitch is the aggressor, not the NRA.

@zesty what does that have to do with anything? Great organization? More people die every year in this country from gun violence than died in the entire Vietnam War. They are nothing but an arm of the gun industry, who funnels tens of millions of dollars to the association.

@RavenCT We'll, different people , different opinions. However enabling and prohibiting something are not equal measures.

@zesty they are really tall too.

@mooredolezal Resulting preserving our unique American right to self defence in all and any form. Congratulations NRA!

@zesty what does socialism have to do with this. You seem to want to talk about socialism on every post.

@zesty Aggressor? By drafting legislation? LOL

@zesty That is not a sentence. Our right to self-defense is not unique, it is a recognized legal maxim known worldwide. Our right to self-defense has nothing to do with the NRA and is codified in American jurisprudence. Self-defense is not legal "in any and all form", never was and never will be.The NRA will never see this.

@mooredolezal It is unique. In your house or businesses you have the right to shoot any intruder without bexplonatiin! It is unique!

@mooredolezal Where do you see socialism in my statement?

@zesty Thank you for the kind words. This is the socialist way.

It was not proven that it is threatening.

@zesty, @RawBacons go to their profile page and follow the right hand column down until you see the icon that says block.

@RawBacons, @zesty do you know what unique means?

@RawBacons that was so bad it was funny.

Thanks for the NRA support. Always good to have a few sensible people on the website.
