She did not come from wealth, thus needed the financial backing of the usual suspects... But in order to change the game, which she’d have worked toward as US President, she first needed to be elected US President..

Are you - and is anyone attempting to convince me that ‘voting’ for someone (if not running myself) - I feel will both represent their constituents (my neighborhood & self) in an honorable and progressive manor is a waist of our/ my time..? What I’m reading is a backhanded way of dismissing yourselves from blame: ‘we didn’t vote for or support anyone - so this shit isn’t our fault - it’s yours!’ Telling those of us (literally) in the trenches - that we’re wasting our time?

Why not join the fight … instead of tossing firecrackers from the sidelines? I know - it’s a close quarters brawl … often pitting you against your neighborhood! Loses you work opportunities, acquaintances, a wife ...maybe your life..

But to blame the victims is Chickenshit, especially having done nothing of apparent substance to help.. Dogdamn - seems we should be on the same page here. One US political party kisses up to and promotes anything the religious extremist demand - the other does it’s best to limit or counter them. Gee ...which one should we support..?

Our nation remains strong, extremely powerful, and potentially poised for greatness - nearly brings me to tears over the possibilities. But, for evil to prevail ..the good need only to become complacent. Our system was not corrupted by design - but neglect. In tuff times - we’re one! At our best, the stuff my dad still reminds me of.. But when it’s good, we play.. Become complacent, and fall behind...

Obama looked out for America first, spending his political capital on Healthcare.. He wasn’t naive, or too young.. Had the nation he’d just provided the first semblance of national health care to rewarded him and those supporting him - and not handed Congress to the party of the military industrialists … or, had just given another Republican Incompetent 8 years to embed us in two wars ..leaving our economy in the worst economic free-fall of our lives… Things would have been different.

@Varn what I meant by Young and idealistic is his foreign policy approach. Think about the speech he made in Egypt. Arabs all over the world had great hope that there would be a balanced approach going forward in the Middle East. He found out that he had no power to change anything of that nature. That's what I meant by too young and naive. I certainly wouldn't suggest that he wasn't a good president. Healthcare in this country should be a right and not a privilege for the few. I miss Obama. It certainly would be nice to have somebody sane in the White House

@Varn . . . The solution is waking up and stop supporting it . . . and raising other people's awareness too. Unfortunately though, I doubt very seriously humans are capable, given their history, and it is much, much more likely that they will end their own existence on the planet in one big nuclear exchange.

@THHA You may be right … and today’s exchange gave me a lot to think about on a long walk on the Blue Ridge this afternoon.. If the system we have has led us to here, there’s definitely some serious problems. But I try to stop short of giving up, or taking away the hope of others … though at times.. it all feels like a lie.

Living far from any targets, unlike where I was raised, I don’t lose sleep over fear of nuclear attack. If I were tight-in around any of our major ports.. that might be different. The whole 9-11 ordeal was a gut-punch, though..

I have never given up, even though it is very likely a Sisyphean task, or analogous to a Greek Tragedy, a coming train wreck, but I would not venture to hold my breath waiting for people to bring down those who are bringing humanity down . . . the realist in me is just not convinced.
