Just fear mongering IMO. Capitalism is basically nothing but trading. For those fearful of CO2 caused climate change you can rest easy. A radical new energy source is now available, and it will soon be spread world-wide through trading, or capitalism if you prefer.

@TheAstroChuck I agree that it will take time for full implementation. Just think where we would be now if in ‘89 the world had leapt in and embraced the new findings. With one percent of the funding given hot fusion development amazing progress might have been made and today there’d be no burning of carbon.

Maybe we’ll soon find out just where we are with LENR. I am generally over-optimistic—don’t let it bother you. 🙂

funny they always show the hot summers with trees burning. we just had 1 of the coldest winters on record in large parts of N. america & they even had snow at the lowest elevations ever in hawaii. how come no photos of those scenes?

@Allamanda
Fire & Ice-- Robert Frost:

Some say the world will end in fire,
Some say in ice.
From what I’ve tasted of desire
I hold with those who favor fire.
But if it had to perish twice,
I think I know enough of hate
To say that for destruction ice
Is also great
And would suffice.

thought i would share one of my fav poems.

@Allamanda ,
they have it covered both ways. whether it gets colder or warmer it's climate change.
so, it's been going on for 4 billion yrs. it always amazes me how gullible people are.

@TheAstroChuck ,
you are truly an educated idiot.

@Allamanda ,
then you are clueless.

Well it certainly isn't that way in the UK, winters are getting warmer here. I guess Global Warming is local, eh?

What if we were truly able to discern the difference between what we want and what we need? I might want a Corvette but I'll never, ever, meet someone who needs one. Instead of trying to develop new energy sources, let's be responsible with what we already have. Maybe there's a starting place in this, somewhere? Unfettered Capitalism is a disaster in progress!

@Allamanda Yup. The greatest source of energy is in the conservation of it, not in the development of new sources. I think everyone needs to read 'Pan's Travail' by Donald Hughes (I think that's the name). He discusses how we waste energy when it becomes easily consumed, relatively cheap, and easy to replace.

Unfortunately, it is probably going to have to take the whole older generation dying off before the prevailing attitudes change, and by then, it will probably be way to late.
