Hours of geeky fun with this online SW radio!
Did you ever tune into the strange broadcasts lurking on shortwave radio, perhaps find one of the mysterious "numbers stations" which are believed to be used by governments to communicate with secret agents?
Not got a SW radio anymore? Enjoy... [websdr.ewi.utwente.nl]
...that's cool,my older brother built a radio-
I also like to use "amplafied"antennas;
if weather conditions are r.ight I pick up stations 500 to 700 miles away.
We used to use "CB" scanners which
are used by truck drivers;and there are interesting other channels >they go from
1-40 channels.
Thanks
I found my old CB a couple of years ago, fired it up and was surprised to find there are still a few people using it.
Bought a Zenith Transoceanic 12 band radio that could pick up ..about everything in it's day. Put up a ‘long antenna’ in the hills and listened to ..about everything - from ships at sea, our nearest international airport, ‘Pravda’ propaganda … and various amateurs anywhere.
My father and an uncle each had one, and I was surprised they were still available ‘new,’ in the early eighties… And yes, I’m sure I listened to submarine military transmissions on longwave ..or stuff like that!
I’m dodging links around here, but appreciate the topic and your apparent enthusiasm… ...my wife never got it
