That's not my understanding of faith. Or the apostle Paul's. This is his definition:

Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the proving of things not seen.  (KJV)
or
And faith is of things hoped for a confidence, of matters not seen a conviction, (RV)

-Hebrews 11:1.

Maybe it should say "Faith comes by pretending to know what you don't know." Anyway, I am glad I am done pretending.

No, the man said exactly what it was to him.

And that's how I understood it too.

Well, simple analogy... Our solar system, Christians believed the earth was the center of the universe then this science thing came along and proved the sun was the center of the solar system. If you don't know why, you base it on faith. Fake it till you make it. With Knowledge you don't need faith. Faith is for something unexplainable. I really don't have a problem with people of faith, but when the tail wags the dog and going up against a topic that have scientific explanation and observation then I seriously have issues with these Christian idiots. ie. Creationists, Flat earthers. To continue the lie to everyone is insane. Your group delusional faith fuels the world idiots and anti-science movement. It's not about HOPE, it's about holding back our society advancement and gaining knowledge. Creationism is not science... it stops the "Why" with "because God made it that way".

@DragonFZ Again, though, the mistake is being made that faith is about what you know but according to Paul, it's how you live according to how you see God's truth manifested in your lives. Perhaps faith and belief are different, although related, things.

OMFG!!! You're quoting Paul. He never met Jesus. He wrote about him some 40-50 years later. He lied about Christianity to convert Pagans and Jews.

@DragonFZ That's not the point at all! Neither is the point that were most likely three 'Paul's.This guy is the father of Christianity as we know it. If he gives the definition of faith, chances are that's what Christians believe.

Taking a step back. What is your point?
For me, the root of all this insanity and allowing the insanity is the little lie called faith.

My point is that Aaron Ra is wrong.

"Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the proving of things not seen. (KJV)
or
And faith is of things hoped for a confidence, of matters not seen a conviction, (RV)

-Hebrews 11:1."

Case in History, Demons were causes for the unseen, until Germ Theory came along. It was fought against by the Church. Faith empowers the make believe.

I'm not saying the apostle Paul's definition of faith holds water in the real world. I'm saying, as an ex-Christian, Aaron Ra is wrong about the experience of Christian faith.

Matt Dillahunty says: Faith is the excuse people give for believing something when they don't have a good reason.
The dictionary says: Belief without evidence.
All convey the same meaning that Hebrews gives which is hoping that something is true.
