My cousin's body was just found. We grew up together. He was 39. His death was probably drug related. I'll probably be going out of town/state to attend his funeral and be overwhelmed with religion and platitudes. I'll just keep my mouth shut and try to be supportive of his closer family.
Sorry for your loss. That's just a horrible thing to have to deal with.
Thanks
A very old friend of mine lost her husband to suicide 5 yrs ago. He came from a Catholic family and he considered himself to be very religious... at his big catholic funeral one of the nuns took it upon herself to berate the widow for all of his so called transgressions and even told her that he had no right to be buried in that cemetary nor have that funeral mass because he (a) committed suicide and was cremated. The whole scene was so emotionally horrific for her, she fainted on the spot.
My guess is the family wrote a realllllly big check to that parish.
I'm sorry for your family's loss and I hope none of you have to endure anything close to what she did.
Thanks
I am very sorry for your loss.
Thanks
Had a similar situation when I flew to Ohio a week ago for my brother's funeral. I suspected an OD but apparently it was a heart attack despite being only 44.
The preacher was crying, yelling, and claiming he was in a better place; that we should be happy he was in a better place; with the family that had gone before etc., and I just kept my mouth shut.
If it gives my step mother comfort to believe her son is with my dad somewhere, I guess I can live with it.
I'm so sorry.
