Notre Dame cathedral is burning. I am not a christian, but I have visited Notre Dame multiple times. Despite my disdain for Christianity, Notre Dame is an iconic piece of architecture. If I remember correctly, Notre Dame was burned down in WWII during the Nazi occupation. Therefore, it is possible to reconstruct. Its a shame regardless of its symbolism and intent. A beautiful ediface. No known causes, although work proceeding on the roof is the chief suspect.

It actually survived occupied France with only some minor damage during the Paris Liberation.

Just a heartbreaking loss.

Perhaps it’s god’s wrath on the Catholic church??......ok, admittedly, a very bad joke.

Truly a shame. It’s an absolutely beautiful cathedral.

One doesnt need to be religious to be appreciative of the art and architecture.

@t1nick wholeheartedly agree with you. Churches and cathedral are some of the most beautiful and historic on the planet. We don’t have to accept what happens within their walls.
