If a rude older person’s rudeness can be justified by being old how old do we have to be before we can be rude with impunity!

Blunt statements are not necessarily rude. As I become older I am less timid and deferring because I have little to lose at this point.

So far as actual rudeness, age is no excuse. It doesn’t take much brains just to stay above ground, and being above ground is nothing to crow about or to feel superior over.

I have found from personal experience that one can be accused of being rude when one makes statements of fact, in a calm & reasonable manner, & the other person does not agree with said factual statements.

Example from an actual conversation: "yes ma'am, your service has been disconnected for nonpayment. In order to restore your service, a payment of $$$ is required."

Customer, "I just told you I didn't have any money & I need my service. You're not listening to me & just being rude. Let me talk to your supervisor."

The accusation of rudeness may not be based in fact but made in a feeble attempt to bolster an unreasonable expectation or point of view by playing the "injured party".

Who said it can be justified? Rudeness can never be justified at any age.

Its excused because of pity , if that is what you seek, BE rude.

Rude, boorish and impolite people are mean.

There is no justification for acting this way.

I don't give mean people a pass.

There's never an age that justifies rudeness.

@Renickulous I stand corrected.
