If the Vatican cared more for the quality of life and less about the sanctity of life, the world would be a better place. Being opposed to both contraception and abortion is in itself mindless "religicrap" and shows the church's anachronistic nature!

If the Vatican really cared for human rights, they would be sending humanitarian packages of food, medicine, clothes, etc to the CHILDREN IN CAGES!

I've not heard about the pope even mentioning those children.

The Catholic church has always been a huge disappointment to me. It began when I learned they did practically nothing for Jewish victims of the Holocaust. Priests and nuns tried to help. But the Vatican DID NOTHING.

I hope priests and nuns team up and picket and/or sue the Vatican for their sexual and relationship rights. I believe these things are natural human rights.

I also hope that victims, and supporters of victims, picket and sue the Vatican for instilling, supporting and enforcing an environment which not only hid child sexual abuse and the rapping of nuns, it likely produced the sex offenders.

Maybe that will light a fire under the Vatican's ass and they will get more with the times.

The Vatican cares but differently than we know how.

1

Since very little of what they do makes sense, why should this?

Old news but still relevant!

The Catholic church is actually a pretty good business model. It doesn't give a damn about the welfare and happiness of its followers. But it most certainly DOES care about being profitable and increasing its followers in the long term.

What all religions are all about: power, money and sex.

Yes I agree. Right now we’re are serving as the overpopulation relief valve for the predominantly catholic Mexico and Central America which suffer from overpopulation due partly to the policies of the Catholic Church.

What do you mean by "overpopulation"?

All kind of religions are one of the overpopulation cause but there are more causes.

@PontifexMarximus So you don’t think immigration contributes to overpopulation?

@PontifexMarximus we know what is meant. People of color!!!

@PontifexMarximus good question that begs to be answered.

@Katsarecool You are so full of crap!

What Catholicism cares about most is breeding as many followers as possible. It harnesses the human sexual urge to encourage its followers to breed far larger families than they actually want, and of course raise those children to do the same again when they're old enough. No masturbation. No homosexuality. No contraception. No transgender surgeries. No abortions, even in cases of rape and incest. They don't care how they boost the numbers, because the ends justify the means. "Sanctity of life" might explain the attitude to abortion, but the rest give the game away. It's all about bums on pews, and trying to expand the congregation exponentially with each generation.

More people need to start calling them out on this. Then maybe Catholicism will stop farming its followers like livestock.

Very eloquent, bravo!

Apparently, according to Magnus Hirshfeld [books.google.com.au]

the age of consent in Vatican City for marriage is 12 years old. There’s archaic!

I wonder what the age of consent is in Rome? Let's see.... [en.m.wikipedia.org]
It also says it's 18 in Vatican city - but who knows.

If the Vatican were swallowed whole by whatever method you choose the world would be a better place.

Fixed it for you.

Good post. The church has done more damage to humanity than any disease. How the hell can the pope go to Africa and tell believers not to use birth control? All because of the stupid line in the Bible "be fruitful and multiply." The Vatican is not only anachronistic, it's insane.

I agree!
