The political and moral spectrums are spheres, not simple 2-D grids. Our thoughts lie upon each measure differently by degrees short, and long. Our attempts to collapse 3-D to 2-D have always failed to provide a clear reality with respect to any proper analysis.

The topic of the day too often determines the opinion of the day. Leaving small room/time for review, and/or rebuttal. The loss is for all of us. No memory of what has actually happened results in repetition of that which has never worked. A significant waste of time. (Albeit, a necessary one, to ensure more applicability, and less cost to restart from the original wrong premises.).

The stupid slow us all from solutions clearly reasoned. Too often to deny the good for the most. This too often is equivalent to, being too inconvenient for the (local) rich and famous.

Our Constitution was founded in a time when truth was cherished. Why are so many "liberal, left, progressive" folk denying the above? Defending the current worst of "us." The most dangerous to our way of life.

This is way too scary to think about everyday.

...and in simplicity which us mere mortals might understand without dissecting sentence by sentence you are saying...?

Left-right makes no sense.

Your attempt at loftiness falls on its face. Romanticizing the creation of the constitution as some kind of magical time when truth was cherished and morality triumphed over corruption. Bullshit. Perhaps your post was an attempt to make your jab at "'liberal, left, progressive' folk" sound intellectual. Or at least your interpretation of intellectual. Pretty much all that you said was gibberish.

Let's listen to a person who has dedicated years of life to what the reality was at the time. How much truth was cherished. And how much it is not now.

@Jacar as a species we have not evolved in the last two and a half centuries. Yes, we abolished slavery and stopped the mass slaughter of the First Nation, but we have found new and interesting ways to torture non-white people to replace the old. The ration of honest to dishonest, and scrupulous to un is the same as it ever was. Technology has just made all of it a great deal more visible and has given the immoral new ways to scam others. People still sell snake oil, women still look for gullible sugar-daddies, and married men still claim that their wives are fine with all their philandering, just like in the olden days... only now they use the internet to do it, which means they can cut a wider swath with their fuckery.

@Deb57 Excellent.

"Truth was cherished?" You mean like slaves were 1/2 a person and only property, a women had no standing whatsoever, and Natives were to be eradicated outright if they tried to hold on to their territory. Only persons who counted were white men who owned land. What truth are referring to?

Are we watching Timcasts again? Tsk. Tsk. Tsk

You prove my premise. left-right makes no sense. We are complex. We are caught in the "here and now" of our individual lives.
Our thoughts about topics cannot as an average, be laid upon a west-to-east continual uni-variable spectrum. That would be group identitarianism. A very bad idea from all perspectives.
