Lots of talk today about Stephen Hawking passing. I saw this picture and found it to be very powerful. It's from from Melbourne artist Mitchell Toy. My hats off to her.

Mind if I steal this?

Sure, After all, I did. 😉

Do credit the artist, please...

@chuckles Um, who is "M."?

Wait, no, just give me a "duh!" instead. 🙂

Done. Phew! Was afraid the credit police were coming to get me! 🙂

That is heartwarming...it made me smile and feel like crying all at the same time! I might have missed it, if you had not posted the pic!

No, it's not religious unless one is obsessed with seeing religion in everything. It's about his fascination with the cosmos, his understanding of it unfettered by his physical state, and an acknowledgement that we come from stardust and will one day return to stardust. It's a great tribute to the man.

May Hawking Radiation live till the end of the universe , which it will,

I like it too-was he an atheist-anyone know?

Seems like our most brilliant scientific minds are nearly all Atheists. I wish I had a tenth of his intelligence, I was shocked and saddened by his passing. Somehow I thought he would live forever.

Not that I believe in an afterlife, but I like the sentiment

While this may be a poignant graphic, this is no different than believing in an after life. Prof. Stephen Hawking no longer exists other than in the hearts and minds of we who remain . IMHO

That's how the theists draw you in! Avert thine gaze!!

I've heard it said that a person doesn't truly die until they are no longer remembered. With what he's remembered for combined with his writings and video footage of him, the man (his presence) will never die. Bruce Lee and Ronnie Barker (to name only a couple) still have the same effect on me today as they would have when alive.

While I agree with your comment, I saw the graphic more as he was returning to the stars... back to stardust... from where we all started.
I didn't see it as a religious statement, although I can see how someone could.

@scurry I did not see it as a religious statement, I was just making a comparison. I also agree with your statement "returning to the stars... back to stardust... from where we all started." Nicely stated.

R.I.P. Stephen Hawking. He had a beautiful mind and helped humanity to better understand the cosmos.

Very nice. Heres to the man and his provocative treatises.
