To be Christian means to act like Christ did. This eliminates nearly everyone who call themselves a Christian from actually being one.

You're being very easy on xtians. I feel that they are acting quite like xtians - meaning quite evil. Jesus did some truly horribe things. The disgusting things described in the bible are not limited to the old testament.

You're right, caring about the sick, the poor, the orphaned, the widows, and the weak, and preaching love and tolerance is pretty horrible. But let's focus instead on how some people interpret the story being about him as a dick to his parents. That's clearly the most important part of the story.

Do some people just like to be contrary and find fault with everything? Is it a fun, stress-free and happy way to live?

@Piratefish, if only xtians did those things, rather than the opposite.

Is that why I can’t walk on water? Perhaps I should become a Christian.

Wholeheartedly agreed.

There is no such thing as a good christian because no christian or bible follower have been obeying the rules/laws of the bible. For example, the law that you should not do any activities on sabbath day is not followed by all christians. The rabbis are less strict than christ who want full enforcement of the law such as the killing of disobedient children. There is no christian who completely follows the bible ergo there is no such thing as a good christian and if their theoretical hell is true then all christians will be in hell.

See YouTube video GOP Jesus.

Bingo...the hypocrisy that I saw consistently for years - decades....made me give up on religion in my 20's-30's.

I did meet one family that runs a children's home, education center and camp. They live such modest lives...and give so much to so many that I name them as a charity on my "smiles.Amazon.com account; but I call them Jesusians...they're not caught up in the hocus-pocus of the mythical BS...they just live a life of being devoted to helping others.

In case you're interested; google Timothy Hill Children's Ranch, Riverhead, N.Y.; Fern and Jerry Hill..in their late 80's...such good people...truly exceptional...and not typical Christians.

There are definitely some good ones who really live it. And I respect that. Show me, don't tell me.

@Piratefish I have the Timothy Hill Children's ranch as the only charity to receive my donations when I buy anything on Amazon....Here's their website...[timothyhill.org]

LOL - that is very true. Christians love to play with the phrase " What Would Jesus Do?". But then they don't do what Jesus would do which could be something as simple as "turning the other cheek" for instance. Instead they do what they would do if they were the god which is to get angry, condemn and outcast the offender and to seek revenge using the power of their religious collective. It's not " Turn the other cheek" anymore. Today's christians answer with " I'll blow you away mother fucker because I'm a christian with the god given right to use a gun to protect myself and I'll murder you in the name of god, molest your children and spit on your grave over nothing." There are no christians left in this universe of fakes.

"Christ" didn't exist...a cardboard, made up character. Impossible to emulate, imitate, mimic, be like, etc. That's one reason Xtians are so conflicted. He's deliberately held up as an ,impossible-to-copy "role model." So it's a self-destructive fantasy to think you can "act like Christ."
When you think about it, how did he "act?" Any clues to what he was "really like?" No. He went around performing miracles and making speeches. That's it. How is anyone supposed to "act like" that?

You win the prize for completely missing the point.

@Piratefish Gee, thanks...what do I win?

The Christian training I received as a child never told me I had to be as good as Jesus in order to be a Christian. They just said I should accept him as my saviour. I never knew exactly what that meant, so I did neither, but I understood that the story of his life was supposed to be some kind of role model for us to follow as best we could. I was never taught about the allegorical symbology inherent in the stories, which I now find scientifically compelling.

I was just referring to the fact that Christian literally means "Christ-like". Which most professed Christians decidedly aren't.

1

EXACTLY!!! My old GF Heather said it very well, when she opined that people who like to refer to themselves as "Christians", are some of the most UN-Christlike people you could ever want to meet!! This one guy I know, he's ALWAYS trying to run some kind of a scam on others or cheat them in some way, he lies right to his wife's face and anyone else he has dealings with. Words are just words to him, he hasn't the slightest idea of why one should be honest and always tell the truth, instead of being a liar. But he loves to refer to himself as a Christian, like that somehow makes him forgiven of all of his sins.

That's a fact and I'm not even thinking about miracles, just behaviour.

Exactly what I was referring to. He was all about love and grace. And he hated hypocrisy, greed, and the proud.

2

I guess I'm more of a Christan than most Christians .

2

There aren't any reliable accounts of "If" he was. Let alone how he was.

Might as well model your life after Paul Bunyan.

He seems nice.

I don't know, seems to me if you walked around with an axe that just seems slightly antisocial.🤭

@oldFloyd and that blue ox following him around may not bite but it'll ram the hell out of you.

You're missing the entire point.

You are raising the bar too high.

Jesus was autistic and a 34 year old virgin when hanged. How can most people be like that?

@Bobby9
Crucified

@altschmerz Yes, slow but there was unfortunately no correct diagnosis and treatment available at the time. If it did, Jesus would have grown up fine, be married to Mary Magdalene, had 9 children, Mary would grow old and died playing with grandchildren, there would be no miracles, no room for greatest lies ever told and the world would not have to endure the tragedies his story brought on to the world for over the next 2,000 years.

Jesus was slow, did not understand instructions well, did not obey rules and got into trouble all the time. Mary had a hard time raising him after old Joseph died early. Jesus was bullied in the neighborhood at the time. He talked unintelligible. He used to babble, gibble, gabber, mumble, bumble and sputter. He was warned by Roman soldiers in the neighborhood out of compassion to be careful because the laws about criticizing authorities were very strict at the time. But Jesus kept going on. He did no work, did not help Mary and used to wander for days. People fed him all the time. Mary used to be worried about something bad would happen to him, he would bring it upon himself and he sure did. The rest is all mumbo jumbo and you can find it in the Wholly Babble.

@St-Sinner lol as good a story as any!

@St-Sinner You may need to revise your understanding of autistic people to be fair on those who suffer some form of mental disability.

@Geoffrey51you mean being politically correct?
