I know this has been said in similar ways many times, but had to respond to a Christian proselytizer on another site, so decided to wing it:
So an all powerful, all knowing, perfect god made the world and the whole universe. Then he knowingly made imperfect humans who he then knew would be duped by a talking snake. Then he had to impregnate a young child virgin with himself so he could be born and then have himself killed just so he could right the wrong he himself knowingly created in the first place. But even that was not enough. You have to suspend your own reason, your own ability to know things, to believe this crap, otherwise you will end up in everlasting torment. Not only is this a little bit of a disproportionate punishment, but also beyond horribly cruel to create humans knowing that they will suffer eternally.

I was raised Catholic and was told about going to hell and burning! After I have seen the suffering I have seen, I think all we have is today and another never never land exists only to help people envision a next life.
Just like we were told about Santa! All bull!

Its funny you mentioned Santa. I was thinking about church as a kid and believing in Santa Claus and then when you get a certain age you're told that Santa is fake but the real reason and truth about Christ is Jesus christ and its 100% real. Last time i checked a virgin getting pregnant, a Donkey talking and a man living several days in a whale has about as much chance of being true as a fat man traveling all around the world in a sleigh to deliver presents in one night

It seems to be all in how well the story is told (speaking generally about people's willingness to believe utter crap). And throw in some mortal fear and you have them hooked... waiting for the twist at the end of it all.

God's logic is so far beyond ours we are like dogs trying to do calculus. You just have to believe that it makes perfect sense...somehow... somewhere. Dementia helps.
