I'm new here (a clear 'Duh' statement). I understand the disclaimer about the reasoning for a Point System. But from the newbie perspective, both site & techie challenged, it can be a real wonkykong waiting to earn points before u can advance to LEVEL: Return Communication.

It sorta feels like a solo Pisces in a fish bowl or more like a space monkey in training (click the color coded word RED for a red m&m -receive 1 red m&m). Just sayin'.

Then there's the other observation:
Could an incentive to log in a site daily to level up before (going from alien to human to make contact) individual human communication is granted create a conditioning foundation to developing OCD??? This is not a direct attack on this website but websites with reward, level up, limitations, etc in general as there are tons that use the same structured, web design platform.

Just write interesting and readable posts. Most of the people here are clever, intelligent people. If you just write complaining posts about points you will be mostly ignored. If you are here for points, you will mostly be ignored. If you are rude and condescending you will be ignored. If you make sensible and well-considered responses you will be engaged with and have an enlightening experience.

Don’t get fixated on points. You will miss the whole point of the show if you do.

So again, I reiterate I am NEW. Someone responded that I found interesting and wanted to respond back but couldn't bc I didn't have enough points to show interest back.

@Angel3 Didn’t know you couldn’t respond at Level 3. That’s just daft because you can create your own groups at Level 4

@Geoffrey51 you can at Level 3. I was still Level 1 and just made Level 2 when I posted but it still wouldn't let me send a smile or emoji. I think it either wasn't updating automatically or I needed to be at Level 3 to respond back to provide a thank you. I prefer to engage in convo privately if I'm responded to privately bc I reciprocate in the same format by which I'm approached.

@Angel3 I understand there can be a delay from time to time so it would obviously make a difference when you are on the threshold of making a new level

Have a point on me.

I don't see the problem. You can still get on the website whenever you want. There is no huge prize in the end of it all.

Um...so I was level 2 but a cute guy responded so I wanted to reply back but COULDNT bc I wasn't at the level to do so. And so yes, at that time it was a big deal.

@Angel3 click on his username, you will go to his profile where you can directy message him, and he, you.

@Angel3 Beware of cute guys in wolf clothing.

@maturin1919 No, I am a very level headed person who is also very positive but can see both sides of the coin at the same time.

@maturin1919 And?

@maturin1919 You would be surprised if you met me.

@AnneWimsey I did back on Level 1 but it said I can't contact or send a smiley face bc I had to be at least level 2 to send smiley and 3 for sending a message. So I'm a road eager therefore I got a little ticked and so I tend to not hold back when it comes to suppressing my emotions. If I'm pissed then I got no problem shouting out about it. Because I think pissy and annoyed are healthy.

@AnneWimsey, @maturin1919 but...maybe I'm INTO wolves. Dont let my name fool ya. Just sayin'

To learn how to gain points and the benefits of different levels:

  1. Open your profile.

  2. Page down to the heading "Level."

  3. Click on your underlined points. This takes you to the Levels Page.

Also, read Community Guidelines.

  1. Hover your mouse over Learn, in the heading above.

  2. Click on About Us.

  3. Page down to Community Guidelines.

Just be active and the points will come...

Some around here get a touch fixated on accumulation of points, which can lead to some amusing discussions - well, rarely - but it does pass the time and can give insight into how the minds work/reward system can make one focus on the trivial.

Enjoy yourself

Look at you! Here two weeks and at level 3! Just have fun, post, like, and join in...the points are a bonus...some people work on them, others just let them fall where they may...I have no idea what gives points or not or how many, and yet, here I am almost a 9!

Welcome!!!

Oh come on, don't sell yourself short - you're at least a 9

If you just browse through a few posts and reply with your thoughts on anything that interests you, you'll be at a level where you can communicate with other users within a few minutes. After that, don't worry about points - just enjoy the site. 🙂

I will try that method. Thanks!

It really doesn't take long if you focus on what you want to say...

Yes ...its a challenge ....I agree

Do I get credit if I answer my own Post bc that would rock to answer my own head's musings and wonders....Outloud!!!

Yes you do, but it's kinda like walking down the street talking to yourself.

@1of5 I was thinking something else along the same vein...

The scientist in me would tell you to check your point score on your profile, note it, then respond to one of your own posts and immediately check your points again to see if the total has changed. This could definitively answer.

However, people are also responding to your posts willy-nilly, and so it's hard to set up a controlled experiment.

I'd be interested to see your results. (I'm too lazy to try the experiment myself, but I'm happy to profit from other peoples' work.)

@Paul4747 Ha! I did check and it didn't auto update. Thus, the prompt for me to dig deeper and post my thoughts unfiltered....as a test 'dummy'.

@Paul4747, @1of5 I'm actually not beyond that either.

@Angel3 I'd already come to that conclusion. 😉

@Angel3 Don't get me wrong, you're no dummy 🙂
