Gun control does need to be stepped up in many states mostly the southern states. Tennessee you can walk down the street with a machete on one leg and a shotgun on the other legally. At the same time my kids school has dark reflective windows to prevent outside view, metal detectors, armed guards, they have cubbys no closed lockers and the kids must carry clear back packs. Anyone that enters the school is subject to a full body search. All of these measures to prevent an active shooter at the school. Why not just fix the screwed up gun laws.

Don't you think all this apparatus was created to give business to special interests?

Not only do they kill people by refusing to pass common sense gun legislation but also by sending troops to countries that they have no reason to be in, by cutting health care for millions, by cutting welfare, by cutting school lunches for kids, by not keeping up infrastructure, all that kills people while they live lives of luxury.

Wait a minute. Aren't you in Australia?

@St-Sinner And???

I own a gun; I come from a gun family and have been taught about guns all my life. I’m willing to accept and follow any reasonable gun control measures to make others—all of us—safer. I still have the right to legally own and carry my gun...and I’m a liberal/progressive.

Don't you feel the fear that the United Nations will come and take away your guns one day?

@St-Sinner Actually, I don’t. How could they? Mine was a gift and I’ll inherit many more when my remaining parent dies. That’s one thing: how will they know which ones I have, or whether I have any at all? Are they going door to door in this WHOLE COUNTRY?!
I don’t see that happening. And if it does, I guess I’ll go out shooting. (Only half joking).

@CarolinaGirl60 Remember New Orleans. After the disaster hit the police went door to door to collect weapons. Once they were done, they abolished their post and the criminals took over. Just a few years ago.

@zesty In a Shock Doctrine situation, in an already decimated area: it might work, or partially work. NO was, for all intents, destroyed. Harder to resist if you just barely survived a Category 5 hurricane, for sure.

@CarolinaGirl60 Oh yes, absolutely right! In New Orleans during this desarming bruhahahhae the policeman were accompanied by armed National Guard members, just to make sure.

Of course guns kill, that is their raison d'être.
I am so sick of this "responsible gun owners" bullshit
You buy, own, load and or carry a gun you are doing it for one reason, to kill someone or something, there is no other reason.
Oh but I hear you cry "it is for protection"
BOLLOCKS the only way to protect yourself with a gun is to kill the other pillock with another gun, and that brings us back to my point.
