WHAT DO YOU THINK HAS GIVEN RISE TO THE NATIONALIST MOVEMENT AROUND THE WORLD?

  1. Overwhelming immigration?
  2. Terrorism and terrorist attacks?
  3. Frustration with government inaction, progress?
  4. Rising unemployment?
  5. Global financial meltdown of 2008?
  6. Underlying and brewing superiority sentiments? We were once great but not great any more?

The manipulation of the populace by conniving politicians is the main reason,as far as I am concerned

1

economic inequality is a big part in my opinion. Then those individuals who can spin fear into hate convince the masses that the feared 'others' are to blame.

1

General anxiety caused by a rapidly shrinking world and the resulting erosion/loss of traditional national/ethnic group identity.

4

Climate change, lack of access to water leading to immigration is a thought as well.

Great post.
You could link overpopulation to all the above reasons. In my opinion.

6

A complete lack of empathy for others.
A lack of critical thinking, and the inability to know when one is being
manipulated by outside sources (i.e. the government, the media, stupid
people, etc).
Abject ignorance, which stems from being poorly educated, and believing
in gods and religion.

That's all just off the top of my head.

Yes but that is how most people think. The majority of the world are working class just like they are religious.

@St-Sinner Which is why they are targeted.

I hold no hope for anyone over the age of 30 right now.
If there's still a planet left, maybe the younger generations will
do better.

I think the rest of us are well and truly fucked.

@KKGator That is bleak.

@St-Sinner Yes, it is, but I feel completely rooted in reality when I say it.

And Australia. We have a very right wing Government that is doing bad things to the country and everyday Australians.

OOOOPPPPPSSSSSS . . . . I think we need a time machine for this one . . . .

Donald Trump Elected on December 19, 2016

Xi Jinping Elected 14 March 2013
Narrendra Modi Sworn in as Chief Minister on 7 October 2001
Shinzo Abe Elected on 23 April 2006
Jair Bolsonaro Elected on 7 October 2018
Rodrigo Duterte Elected on June 30, 2016

I don't like the bastard any more than you do, but this is a real bad argument.

I'm not sure that there is any argument here. Depending on if these are just facts.

Sorry, I do not use Netflix, most of the movies I do watch are not from the USA . . . and in some language other than English.

@nastynifty "TRUMP'S INFLUENCE IS SPREADING AROUND THE WORLD.... THE RIGHT WING IS ON THE RISE
ELECTED"

It is obviously implying that tRump influenced what follows . . . . and that is OK if you think it can be done retroactively.

@Archeus_Lore It may be that Trump's election gives permission for a more rightward lurch in other countries that already had a right leaning leader, in a similar way that the Nigerian army used Trump's words to justify shooting rock throwing protesters (just a few days after Trump said OUR military should shoot anyone at the border who throws rocks).

Forty Nigerian protesters were killed and 100 wounded.

It might be Canada's turn next October.
