So my mom and I told my 11 year old sister that I was an atheist. My sister didn't understand why I didn't believe in a god so I told her why. She did ask questions that I couldn't answer but I wasn't mad. I was more surprised about my mom support me even though she is Christian. Never thought I have a supportive family.😄

good thing you have a mom who is morally superior to her christian god. any idea why she continues to believe?

I'm glad to hear your family is supportive of you!

What questions did your little sister have that you could not answer? Maybe you can get your answers here?

Why god don't help out people in Africa? I didn't want to tell her because even though we ask the same question when I was her age, she and I had different view at that age.

@SendouQ I think if she is asking that question, there is hope for her.

Your mother is a wise woman.

Be happy about that.

Cherish that mother and let her know how you feel. It will make her happy.

That's great to hear - you're lucky indeed to have a mom who cares for and loves you more than god.

Don't feel bad that you were asked questions you could not answer. Remember that it is only the Christians who have all the answers. Once you know their answers you can create a trainwreck out of what they believe.

Your mom sound pretty awesome. From talking to others it doesn’t seem like most families are accepting.

Cool.

most of the time Christens say they will pray for you or you have to believe or similar things. Be glad you have one who thinks for herself might just she is so she does not have to argue with others.

Thanks.

Lucky you!

Glad it was a positive experience

Yeah but I have a crazy story about my aunt on my dad side

@SendouQ Make a post about it hahaha. I have a crazy, religious aunt on my dad's side who commented on one of my Facebook posts if my parents knew I had liberal friends. I replied it doesn't matter if they knew, and these friends were more family to me than her who I hadn't seen in a few years.

Good for you. If told my family that I'm an Atheist, it wouldn't go well. They would hit the roof if told them I'm bi sexual as well.

I think the atheist part would be the worst part of it forthem

@benhmiller you might be right. My mom implied I would go hell if I became an Catholic. I grew up Baptist. I shortly after that I thought I would be better off atheist. I know I'm a happier person now.

I can't do anything but wounded what the questions were that you could not answer were. That is a great example your mom has set so many others could use her wisdom.

Sometimes, people will surprise you. 🙂
Real love and real support can't be confined by religion or belief. Good peeps is good peeps. <3

Be sure to support your family, as they have supported you.

There are a ton a questions that I don’t have answers for. That’s why I’m an atheist. It sounds like you have a pretty good family.

Thanks. I have to thank my brother for everything. My mom didn't want to except me but my brother said "does it matter? He still your son and he need you more than ever." He in the army and he take no BS.
