It would seem that Eve did not seduce Adam with an apple.

In other news Cinderella never wore a glass slipper, it was either green or fur depending on which translation you go with.
A piece of information of equal significance to reality.

"Quince is believed to predate the apple. Some believe that all the ancient mentions like the forbidden fruit in the Garden of Eden were indeed referring to the quince. Greek mythology associates the quince with Aphrodite, the goddess of love, and many believe that the golden apple given to her by Paris was a quince."

Precisely. So the mythical tale of Eden probably mentioned a quince, which was lost in translation when a translator had never jeard of quince. Je asked his mate who said "It looks a bit like a crab apple." and forever more Adam ate Eve's apple.

Very interesting! I think it might offer insight as to where the MYTH of Adam & Eve and the infamous "Apple" came from!

"The Quince in Ancient Times

"Ancient Greeks associated the quince with fertility, and it played an important role in wedding celebrations. It was often offered as a wedding gift. A bite of the fruit was used to sweeten the bride's breath before entering the bridal chamber, and then the fruit was also shared by the bride and groom. Thanks to these associations, the quince has become known as the "fruit of love, marriage, and fertility.""

Exactly.

This fruit symbolizing fertility fits well with a lecture series I watched on YouTube a couple years back, or so. I thought I had it bookmarked, but I am having trouble finding it again.

It was posited that the "knowledge" that Adam and Eve gained was sexual/procreation knowledge.

As it is explained, this god created "the Adam" because he wanted a gardener. And, when he saw that he was lonely he eventually created woman--but only after the Adam was not happy with any the animals paraded before him (this shows this god was not interested in procreation).

Once they gained this sexual knowledge by eating the forbidden fruit, this god had to expel them from the garden. If they ate from the tree of life, they would become like the other gods. They would have eternal life--and have the ability to create life (making even more gods). And this god, and apparently the other gods, did not want this.

This also explains why the woman is cursed with labor pains and will desire her husband despite the pain it will bring to her. And, it is only once they are outside the garden, where they cannot get to the tree of life, and their life spans are shortened, that they are told to go forth and multiply.

Now, why this god made them with the ability to procreate in the first place makes no sense; but, hey, most of the Bible makes no sense.

I am going to keep searching for this lecture series, It was quite interesting. If anyone should come across it, or is already familiar with it, please let me know.

A very interesting comment. If I ever find more I will send you the link.

Interesting—thanks for posting. Maybe I’ll plant some quince trees in the spring.

The fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good vs. evil was irrational, dualistic thinking. Once Adam and Eve started thinking like that pandora’s box was open.

Of course it was all Eve’s fault. Adam was just catering to her whims, hoping to get laid—the universal male weakness.

Cool, I learned alot fromthis post...except where to get some?

It is native to the Mediterranean region and grows well in all temperate climates. You can usually buy it as quince jelly.
An extract from The Owl and The Pussy Cat :-

"They dined on mince, and slices of quince,
Which they ate with a runcible spoon;
And hand in hand, on the edge of the sand,
They danced by the light of the moon,"

Ask your local greengrocer to supply some, perhaps.

@Petter I am at the latitude of Cairo. Apples won’t grow here but maybe quince?

@WilliamFleming
This should help.

@Petter Thanks, I’ll save that link. Sounds like quince should grow in my area.
