I really want a glidecycle to help keep active with very little pressure on my joints, but they're 1700 dollars. Cause disabled people, the ones they're marketing it for, can totally afford that. Seriously I could buy a used car for that. I could buy a moped or motorcycle.

They look relatively simple to make, I'm wondering how hard it would be, but then everything I say looks simple I butcher lol

Understood, my Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome will do it to me some year. In the meantime, I'm going to keep bicycling and doing low-impact workouts. It hurts, but it's better than being back in a wheelchair before I have to.

Same. I'm almost back to wheelchairs. If I cannot do my taekwondo I'd rather die. However this low impact looks real nice

@LadyAlyxandrea, I have all sorts of immune dysfunction. I had some sort of autoimmune-induced Ataxia after a DTaP vaccine nearly 20 years ago, and ended up in a wheelchair for 3 months while relearning how to walk.

To be fair to my EDS, thankfully, I'm just Primary Hypermobile. Very little major impact other than early arthritis and being exhausted all the time. My Lupus is just as likely to put me back in a chair.

I'm also allergic to the planet. I can't tolerate grains or fructose, shellfish, rosemary, and soy send me into anaphylaxis. I'm keeping my 5 cats regardless of how much Benadryl I need to take.

Oh, man. If I lived near you I could make you one for far less than $1700, pretty obvious one could be made with almost any cheap old bike and plumbing pipe. And, well, welding skilz. Hope the idea catches on, mass produced the price would come way down.

Indeed. It seems really straightforward.

Is this a new thing under the sun? Looks interesting. I have some residual joint damage from a chronic illness that I was cured of some years back, made worse by getting old. If I weren't so clumsy I might consider this, but I think my two-wheelin' days may be behind me. Last time I was actually on a bike I scored myself a couple of cracked ribs.

From what I've been told it's actually easier to use than a regular bike, and takes less balance lol

I need a link - Amazon is kicking up childrens scooter/bikes under that heading?

Also maybe Craigslist?

@LadyAlyxandrea That's fascinating! I'd die - but my balance is terrible.

I wonder if there are any organizations that would help you with cost? I know my friend got a wheelchair with all the bells and whistles from the ALS society. Maybe EDS does some fundraising for folks?

@RavenCT as far as I can tell all the fundraising goes into genetic research. I can't even find a place that does reduced fee ALDs like weights and parkinsons straps.

@RavenCT and from what I hear the glidecycle is actually really easy to use even with balance problems

@LadyAlyxandrea It looks amazing.
