What's the most outrageous thing one of your parents ever said to you?

In my case, when I was about six years old, my mother decided to take advantage of what we'd now call "a teachable moment". While we were waiting for a bus, I told her that my friend's boxer puppy had recently had its tail clipped/docked. Mom's response was, "Well that's what they do to little boys: they cut off a part of their penis to make them look better and to make them easier to keep clean."

You can't make stuff like this up, folks! <blushing profusely> Mom actually told me about the practice of circumcision in this rather ghoulish, totally inappropriate manner.

"John and I were talking," my mother said about her boyfriend after Dad died. "We agreed if we could do it over, we would not have children."

That was hurtful. Will never forget it.

had i the chance to do it over i definitely would not have had children.

Mother: “Dammit to hell, I wish you’s Never been born.”

I was 5 or 6.

@Winkiedink54 yes. It was then. And every day I recall it.

The worst thing my "mother" said to me had to do with my existence... she was a cold narc and the world is better off without her...

I was a teenager in the early 1980's, when they discovered AIDS. My mom had a theory of her own about the disease. She told me she thought gay men were getting AIDS because they were having anal sex too hard, they would be ripping off their asses and get some nasty infections.

"I have a new hobby," my mother said when I was 16. "It's sex."

Highly inappropriate. Cringe. Will never forget it.

Too much information!

Your Mom's response sounds both accurate and clever; nothing ghoulish about it.

When I was 3, my Grandfather pointed to the big can transformer on a nearby telephone poll and told me that bad boys would be put in there on time-outs. I was horrified, but couldn't quite grasp how children would fit inside; it didn't look big enough...

@Winkiedink54 That is pretty gross. Have you been diagnosed with any sort of personality disorder as a result of that or other experiences? Did your Mom have other issues or sources to have promoted that behavior? These questions are probably out of line, so maybe I'm just thinking out loud. I wish you well for having gone through that.
