How Investments/IRA’s can and often do add to racism and segregation.
All investments are suspect. Money eventually takes over and ethics get whittled away. As a former employee of the Univ. of Maryland European Division we were offered a deal with TIAA-Cref. The University more than matched our contributions so many of us got on board. Later, my new partner was also in education and I talked her into transferring her Morgan Stanley account to TIAA. TIAA is a non-profit and even has a social choice plan. Over time we discovered, more and more the hidden problems with investing and slowly got out. Now, all I have is a small ‘guaranteed’ portion which still has 2 years left. Then I will be done. This latest report is the usual long Atlantic Monthly editorial and I doubt few will read it (but I know one who might). It highlights what has happened in Mississippi and how even the most respected organization can be guilty. [theatlantic.com]
The greed is out of control in this Country. Maybe I should take up my Cousin's offer and move up to Canada....
sounds like a good plan ... buy thermal underwear first
@ShadowAmicus hell, with global warming, soon they may not have much of a winter.
I think in this case it's less about greed and people getting by through investments. As I said I was an investor in TIAA and thought it was a reputable company. Even at the beginning of the article it was said it was not the fault of TIAA.
There is a new series on Netflix about dealing with crashes on the roads around Toronto. Watch one episode and see what's it's like there.
