Can you not foresee the onslaught of discrimination against Agnostics and Atheists that will occur as a result of this legislation when it passes?
All the old idiot men with itty bitty penii are going to die soon. Won't we have a nice party??
well, my email protest re- this 'new' proposed legislation has been sent though as it was sent as an Atheist I AM expecting absolutely NO reply/response.
I humbly suggest/ask that other members, both here in Australia and around the world, consider doing the same or similar.
And I thank them, in advance for their support.
Some years back Victoria belatedly had a review of it Bill of Rights Act. I sent 3 copies of my submission, one through the local member, one email and one registered mail. None ever seemed to arrive or appear in Hansard and the blatant failures of Victorian Rights practice were never discussed.
I proved to the Victorian Ombudsman's Office that his representative had not exercised due diligence to arrive at his erroneous dismissal of my complaint against a local Victorian council. - His response - if you do not like my finding then you can complain again.
Imagine my chagrin when 7 or so years later I found the same man was dealing with another complaint of mine on another matter.
I have had similar problems with health ombudsmen after a dentist's drill blew off the air hose to rocket into my mouth and then bounce on the floor. The dri) could have gone down my throat or shot out the side of my neck leaving me looking like Frankenstein waiting for the electrical connection. Verbal statements were denied, systemic errors in procedures and dental training were not admitted (effective gaslighting), records were suppressed/ lost/never recorded, complaints procedure was not to benefit the patient but curry information to use in rebuttal of events. Ie. The complaint procedure was a complete fraud.
Also down here in Victoria they have an ugly habit of labelling you as a queralent - [parliament.vic.gov.au]
An acquaintance had the Stawell Council CEO pull that one on her. That CEO in typical fashion was bumped up and I think is now the CEO of Ballarat. The police also noted on her file that she was insane - this observation made because she is profoundly deaf. . . More evidence of the effectiveness of the Victorian Bill of Rights.
Funny enough the last time I looked
Race, Sex, Age, and Disability were not a choice
Belief in a holy book and and an invisible deity IS a choice and so should not be subject to the same protections as natural states of affairs such as Race, Sex, Age, and Disability?
If it is so what is to stop me from demanding non discrimination laws on the basis of political affiliation, allegiance to foot ball clubs, tattoos, and preference in food stuffs?
You want to make new laws about discrimination then do it for recognized actual prejudices, such as height, red hair, facial disfigurement etc.
Whilst having a quick squint for a remembered clause contained in the Australian Uniting Church Act 1977 I instead found the followinng in the Victorian Act of the same year. Incidentally an Act more concerned with property and internal control rules than religion leaving me concluding that their god is indeed Mammon! - :
Now "am I wrongly reading this or is it discriminating against bankrupts & preventing them from being Trustees?"
Isn't Donald Trump a bankrupt?
@FrayedBear Yup several times over
I don't care about religion in ANY form. Why are atheist and agnostics linked? One is about contradicting foolish stories- and the other is about not having enough advanced information about science- "what started the whole process?"
Yes, theist are going to wet their diapers, if their gawd-dude is taken away.
Please read @Triphid 's response.
Scary law. OZ has lost it's mind.
That is a very generous remark - you are conceding that it ever had a mind!
I'm not sure if I mentioned it on here or Zuckerbook BUT from a well-trusted and very well informed source within the Great Halls of Deceit, Back-Flipping, Back-Stabbing and general Mis-Government ( aka Federal Parliament, Canberra, BUT not very long AFTER Happy Clappy Jesus Chappy & Co. stabbed Turnbull in the back the first thing Jesus Chappy planned to do AFTER winning the next Federal Election was that HE would force a Bill through Parliament that would ENSURE that EVERY Australian would become a Christian, no IFS, not Buts allowed.
Yet another of OUR inalienable Rights looks like going down the drain thanks all of those Liberal-National Party Supporters and the other idiotic voters who fell blindly for the cheap promises made by the Lib-Nat. Party.
Yikes!
@FrayedBear "Yikes" doesn't quite cover it my friend, I think it's more " We are about to be f***ed over BIG time and we desperately need to get every Non-Christian, Atheist, Agnostic and Nonreligious person in Australia on side and start bombarding the Government with protest after protest BEFORE it becomes Law.
WE ARE being Discriminated against 110% with this proposed Bill, we WILL be silenced by it, have NO doubts about that.
I intend to lodge my comments and protest today via the following email address FoRConsultation@ag.au
@Triphid Isn't the xtian discrimination bill contrary to the Australian Constitution and requiring a referendum? I would have thought that any proposal to enforce 100% xtianity would be. Not even tbe communists in Russia or China could totally eradicate it.
Wow! That’s a scary law! Sounds like something one of the American right wingers or Trump would propose.
See @Triphids response above. PM Scott Morrison is a rabid Pentecostal.
@FrayedBear Maybe I should add here that you meant to say that Morrison, aka Morriscum/ScumMO, etc, etc, IS the rabid Pentecostal and not me as reading your comment may imply to others.
@Triphid Thanks for pointing that out. I have corrected my sloppy wording.
@FrayedBear No worries my friend, I make typos regularly as anyone can tell you.
@Triphid Mine wasn't a typo it was sloppy wording and my bad.
no wonder he got such a big welcome from the Chosen One last week
Going backwards to a religious state or worse allowing discrimination
I remeember being discriminated against 30+ years ago when a xtian school did not give me a job because I was divorced.
@FrayedBear Yeah, I know that similar feeling only too bloody well, back in the late 90's I was working in conjunction with the N.S.W. Department of Education in my capacity of a Child and Youth Crisis Counselor helping kids with their problems both in and out of schools.
No problems with the Publics Schools though, I was welcomed with open arms so to speak, BUT one morning I got a message from the local Department Head that my services were urgently required at the local Sacred Heart Primary School ( Catholic School of course).
I arrived at the school, ready and willing to do my best for the troubled child ONLY to find that a Priest and 2 Nuns were standing at the gate barring my entry purely on the grounds that I was a known Atheist and was " Not Welcome there no matter the problem a student had NOR what the Department said or decided."
Fortunately the child's parents saw reason and allowed me to help their child at their home, the outcome was successful and the child's problems were overcome, the parents also gained from my visits, etc, and subsequently moved their son from the Catholic School to a Public School where their son began to thrive and excel in his education.
@Triphid The disgusting Catholic indoctrination of nums and priests in deliberately misinterpreting words to maintain the dominance and control of the religion.
Sounds like a retrograde step...is it likely to pass into law? It sounds like a charter for bigotry which will be protected by this legislation...and how do you define a religion or a religious belief?
The joke is that it already exists. A statute passed for the Uniting Church includes a clause which says they are above the law and cannot be held to account. I can only surmise that whomever wrote this legislation believed that they are accountable to an omnipotent sky fairy.
