Do the GOP and their Evangelical enablers constitute an Existential Threat to Humanity?
The Evangelicals believe in an apocalypse based on their reading of the Bible. They also believe in disrespecting the authority of scientific findings, science being regarded as antithetical to Biblical authority. Joining with Big Oil and Big Ag, they all choose to disregard the threat of climate change and collapsing ecology and biodiversity. Together, GOP and the Evangelicals prevent realistic proposals from getting political traction. The blocking of addressing these threats gives the threats time to get worse and more complex. A tipping point will come, unknown to us, where human extinction becomes a foregone conclusion.
Can any realistic action be taken to stop our imminent extinction?

Not so much a conclusion, but an escalating probability.
Once the insects die off and infrastructures are lost, maintaining a food supply becomes problematic. The competition for scarce resources is certain to initiate a nuclear exchange and game over.
Yes something can be done we can look to the rational countries of the world, we could go out and vote instead of sitting on our dead asses like most of them did in 2016, you can make changes in your own community or it might take an act of god. Or should I say a good imagination.

Don’t think you need worry too much about the evangelicals.
China has a much greater influence in the world than a few million Bible thumpers in a failing nation!

That is unfortunately ..as accurate a description of the Repubilcan Industrial Religious Ignorant mindset I’ve read is some time… You nailed it 
Granted, the Industrialist’s harvest the ignorant religious … as the Republian Party orchestrates it.. The Religious Republicans claim humans (they) were placed here by their god to consume the planet - when it’s gone - ‘JC’ will descend on a sunbeam and take them to another one.
The hope for humanity lies with nations beyond the US… US politics is so locked down by these filthy Republicans ..and their ‘Supreme Court’ that the best of us are incapable of helping from within.. So it’s up to the world to save itself, despite our nation, “under god” ~
