Why do we have the arrogance to call ourselves intelligent, when most of our species is at one time or another killing each other, destroying the environment, with a few haves and most have not!!

There are different kinds of intelligence. Humans have excelled probably farther than any other animal in the history of hte earth s far as an ability to learn and use reason. However, the repetitive history of our repeating mistakes over and over again shows that we have a pretty slow learnign curve as a species.

As a species, we DO have a great deal of intellectual capacity. However, we also let that intelligence be dominated by greed, ideology. ethnocentrism, and other forms of irrationality.

There's "intelligence," or IQ, and then there's emotional intelligence.

Although I think it's a safe assumption to say that "intelligence" isn't universal. As one of the smartest men who ever lived once observed, "Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former." Albert Einstein

I have read this book and also know that even Einstein had emotional problems especially with his first wife. Unfortunately, emotion often overrules intelligence.

I love that quote.

Intelligence is one thing, enlightenment and wisdom are quite another.

The reason is greed, religion, and money ,and over population ,which is caused by this.As soon as humans deviated from being hunters and gatherers that was the beginning of the end

I agree totally but see a connection with the first 3 to the last item.

We are the only species we know of that builds intelligent robots, then builds a transportation system to get them safely to other planets to explore and send back information of what they have discovered on other planets. I'd say that's enough to call ourselves "intelligent".

We use technology to explore other planets to take the place of this one after we have destroyed it. How intelligent is that? In this case intelligence is not enough.

Is my intelligence negated by another’s ignorance?
