Being raised with Liberal progressive thinking parents, both of them advocate for the Legalization of Marijuana. I have not heard many opinions on the other side of this argument. Is anyone against the Legalization of Marijuana? If so, why? Thanks!

Cannabis was made illegal by a coalition of racists and corporations whose products compete poorly against hemp. Prohibition was also used to disenfranchise blacks who often used illegal stills to raise money. Measures that were effective in keeping Blacks down were embraced by Evangelicals and other White churches, until anti-cannabis attitudes became part of the Christian liturgy, along with the attitudes of anti-Semitism, anti-Women, anti-LBGT, anti-science, etc. Mainly, the term demon-weed was taken seriously by those nit-wits.

You never have to worry about this happening due to a stoner.

Not legal in my state, however there are a lot of counties and cities who are only writing citations for less than an ounce.

I've been smoking cannabis for about 50 years. I'm for total legalization. It would be nice to specify sativa when purchasing.

I would guess that nearly all who are against legalization are those who don't use and would probably be pissed off if all of a sudden alcohol were illegal and they couldn't drink their daily two bottles of wine.

I would go for illegal tobacco, alcohol and most prescription drugs, the top three killers. Marijauna has killed no one directionally.

I'm probably singing to the choir here

It’s weird, for me… Prior to leaving Oregon I voted (for the second time) not to legalize ‘recreational pot.’ And, I’ve confessed that to few..

My desire was to leave it ..quasi legal … with the expectation it continue to be taken seriously. I lost that final vote, and a week after I left the state, it became legal. Reports from my offspring describe it from dorm rooms to concerts … and everywhere in between.. Personally, they’re kinda sick of it.

Having headed back in time myself (to the US East Coast), VA just allowed it’s cultivation for ‘fiber.’ So what’s happening..? Folks have determined which of the ‘legal cultivars’ have the highest THC content, got their permits, and grown a shitload of it! They’re now legally selling buds and ‘pre-rolls.’

It saddens me that humanity needs drugs. As is, it’s a drug. If used carefully ..as if you might get busted and in serious trouble if caught.. it’s apparently ‘worked.’ Open use seems a recipe for death, including the innocent.

I could say it saddens me that people need materialism, junk food, incessant cell phone texting, gas powered cars, or greed. But it won't stop addicts of those things. Moderation in anything is key to rational behavior.

I think THC or CBD won't do even a 1/1000th of the harm that the aforementioned do to humanity and culture.

Plus, the medicinal value of both CBD and THC has been proven in studies.

Yes, everything in moderation is the key.

I oppose legalization, but support de-criminalization of 'funny green hay'. When you legalize it, you give the State something else to tax. The taxes only drive the prices up, making the stuff only accessable to those who can afford it (mainly, rich people, and 'hipsters'😉. On the other hand, if you de-criminalize it, one can grow their own, in any quantity they wish, or even travel around the country playing 'Johnny Weed Seed', and sowing every field, and forest clearing! All without gluttonous State taxation!

Actually, legality brings a price parity of sorts. The underground growers are still able to undercut the permitted/ licensed growers, but the mega-profits are gone..

Taxing appears difficult for the reasons above. Too much tax kills legal sales. ...but my ‘thumb up’ is cuz I agree with you ~

Death and taxes are for sure, not good enough reason vs health benefits and hemp making 30'000 different products.

In Canada legalized weed prices has gone up to the highest it ever has. Yet from studying Colorado in their pass couple of years their price went from $2500 dollars a pound to $1500 a pound. When all States are legal in 5 years it will be $700 a pound. I wish it comes down to the price of corn per pound.

OK but then how is it that rich people are not the only ones drinking and smoking cigarettes?

@CastlepalomaI can remember buying that stuff for as little as ninety bucks a pound. And even then, it was over-priced. The stuff is a weed, like dandelions, and should be treated as such!

As a kid we had to smoke 4 or 5 joints to get high and burnt my eye brows from the flaming seeds.

Cannabis (racist name marijauna) been around for 10'000 years and the best known medicine known to man also most important plant on earth. Happy it grows like a weed, best solution for pollution.

@MsA Cigarettes are already so expensive, you'd practically have to be rich to afford them! And if they taxed booze as high as they do tobacco, booze too would become primarily a vice of the wealthy. But of course, the big breweries and distilleries aren't about to let that happen!

About 84% are for legalized medical marijuana in the US. Yet most are too frighten even to ask questions like I offered on another post. Due to so many grey areas and still the number one crime in America

Everything you want to know about MARIJUANA, yet afraid to ask. Posted a day or two ago. After 15 years of pioneering weed to be legal in Canada, it amazing I did not get locked up and some cases they throw away the key.
