Alaska has been used for a long time as a last resort dumping ground for pedophile Catholic priests sent to remote villages to hide out and continue to abuse children... This scandal is not unique to Alaska but we seemed to get the worst of the worst repeat offenders that had been reassigned multiple times. The question that I don't understand is why would the leaders in this global organization continue this process for so long? The elephant in the room that nobody seems to address is maybe that many in leadership rolls charged with policing their members were just as guilty also and feared the real truth would include them as well. Faced with the reality that "if you report me I will spill the beans." Instead they were shuffled around to remote locations where they could continue their abuse out of sight. It seems perfectly plausible that many pedophiles, that were clever enough to avoid detection, rose through the ranks to hold leadership positions as cardinals or bishops and were not just covering up the actions of others but covering up their own guilt. Not just protecting the public integrity of a corrupt and depraved organization.

I think they protect one another to the degree they do because we outsiders are only seeing the tip of a very perverse iceberg. If one was a pedophile who wanted to get away with doing one's thing without consequences, what would be the obvious vocation for one to choose?

The Catholic Church Has Paid Out $3,994,797,060.10 as a Result of the Sex Abuse Scandals - (reported in 2015) [friendlyatheist.patheos.com]

Goddamit! There is a recent book written about this very subject. When I come across the title, I'll post it. You can find it on Amazon tho.
The gist is that the Catholic Church is a haven for pedophiles & the scandal is tolerated b/c the institution must be protected at all cost! After all, it's a business!

Certain people are drawn to it because they will have unsupervised contact with children. It's really sick.

There were also nuns that sexually abused orphans in Ireland and elsewhere.

Like I said, the problem is not unique to Alaska and has been going on for hundreds of years.

What is it about the catholic priesthood that is so attractive to child molesters? They're drawn to it like to a cold beer on a hot day. Also, I was an altar boy for three years in a catholic church when I was growing up and no one ever even tried to molest me. Given how ubiquitous pedo priests are, I must've been really unattractive as a kid.

A couple of things to consider:

  1. Priests are required and expected to remain celibate. That is unnatural for human males. Our biological urges toward sexual activity are totally natural, and prolonged abstinence is not healthy for the mind.

  2. Priesthood guarantees private 1x1 access to young children. That's a pedophile's dream.

There are other considerations, but given these two factors alone, the risks should be somewhat self-evident.

It is amazing that so many stay in the Catholic Church. Also amazing that so many remain Trump loyalists. I suspect a similar psychology is at work.

The vatican is so rich and wield so much power over the brainwashed that they don't fucking care.

An armed man charged into a pizza restaurant in the DC area bc an unhinged radio host suggested that Hillary Clinton was running a pedophile ring. Meanwhile, There's a Catholoc church in every medium sized US city.

And yet this (dis)organization still has a lot of power, followers and apologists. Fear is really a powerful motivator.
