Went to a humanist funeral yesterday and I was blown away. The departed was a saintly woman who helped numerous cancer patients voluntarily;everyone was there... Even the local priest allowed the humanist ceremony to take place in his church because he believed that she was amazing...
It has been the only funeral that I felt it was only about the person and its life. A real celebration without any incarnations of otherworldly fantasies...

There were a few photo albums around the place and momentos. Just like a little party. It was nice, I only got upset when I thought how much he would have liked it and wished he was there!

If the priest is worth his robes, I'm sure he found a way to sneak in a prayer or two on the sly.

What are they like? Unfortunately, all I will ever get to experience is dumbass catholic funerals in my family, unless my sister dies before me and opts out of a catholic funeral/service. DETAILS?
