If the Supreme Court follows precedent, Trump’s tax returns will become public [qz.com]

House lawyers submitted a response to the Supreme Court today - House Democrats are well within their authority to subpoena President Donald Trump's financial papers, This Court has long recognized that Congress's power to conduct oversight and investigations -- a power of inquiry, with process to enforce it -- is an essential and appropriate auxiliary to the legislative function." - House lawyers told the Supreme Court on Thursday.

Trump's lawyer's argument - ""Given the temptation to dig up dirt on political rivals, intrusive subpoenas into personal lives of presidents will become our new normal in times of divided government -- no matter which party is in power," Jay Sekulow, a lawyer for the President, argued in court papers. "If every committee chairman is going to have this unbounded authority, this Court should be the one to say so."

Trump is solely banking on his two SCOTUS appointees to back him up.

Seeing as how the prez isn't supposed to personally profit (besides his salary) from the job the only way to double check this is with financial disclosure, which presidents (and candidates) have been willing to do voluntarily in the past.

So we'll see if they get 4 votes to review. Personally, since the suit directly affects Trump, if they do vote to review Trumps appointments to the court should probably recuse themselves since they owe thier jobs to him.
