I met a girl that was really into astrology. She asked me what my sign was and I said, Sagittarius. She was like, "I totally guessed that because you're this, and this and act like that..." I interrupted her, "I'm sorry, I meant to say, Scorpio." Crickets.
My ex girlfriend got really into astrology the last couple of years. When our relationship started to get rocky, she constantly attributed it to our signs and the stars. I knew we would never recover, she believed in it, therefore it was true. I was irredeemable.
We had several arguments. I'm like, if you take two people born at the exact same time, and one is born in a different culture and with a different socioeconomic situation, one with attentive parents and one with abusive or absent parents, one with maybe a rare genetic disease, maybe one is schizophrenic, are you telling me they will have the exact same personality because of the stars? Crickets.
The ancient Romans once suffered a terrible defeat, perhaps the worst they had, at the Battle of Cannae August 216 BC in southeast Italy. When someone asked the Roman thinker and politician why he did not respect astrologers, he replied. " Did twenty thousand men at Cannae all have the same horoscope ? Yet they all had the same fate !"
Like most things it has to be studied rather than considered from a pop culture viewpoint.
