What's up with these conspiracy theorists in America who think the government is secretly trying to control us? First off, is the government even that smart to be able to keep major secrets from us?

Second, look at some of the other countries! I know America isn't perfect. I am not proud of some of the things we've done here, but I feel somewhat lucky that I was born in America. I have tried to wrap my head around these conspiracy theorists and I'm lost. Lol. What is the purpose in believing crazy things with no hard evidence?

Just for fun, watch "Dark Legacy", a 2009 'documentary' by John Hankey. It's quite the howler; my incredibility detection meter busted by the end of it.

George Bush Sr, with the help of his Skull and Bones friends, was involved. Bush named each of his planes "Barbara"! Coincidence!?! I think NOT!

=giggles=

I would suggest it’s not that secret. Aggressive Christianity is rampant and there is a monkey in the Big Chair!

Sounds well controlled to me !

Every conspiracy theory depends on a "Them" full of special powers/knowledge, that can keep secrets forever........ ohferpetessake!

Because accepting that your government is just plain incompetent, is boring and asks the question why don't you do something about it, which means accepting your own share in the mess.

Look at all the religious people in this country that would fit the bill of the last sentence in your post.

Oh, sometimes watching those nuts can be highly entertaining. It's when they start gaining traction and influencing stuff that it gets scary.

People desperately need something to blame. Something bigger and way beyond themselves; something exciting and exotic, uncontrollable and unseen and the more X-Files it is, the more readily they'll believe it.

In fact, it will only be a few more decades and future generations will see the X-Files as legit history, you heard it here first!!

The actual answers tend to bore people.

Exactly. No excitement in normal day to day life. Probably why we have exotic tales of gods and fairy stories and Stephen King.

No matter how scary or absurd the tales, they bring some spice to the banality of the everyday. Especially if you buy into them!
