My niece convinced me to buy a 32” television set on Amazon on Cyber Monday for $119, so I could subscribe to Netflix For $8.99/month. It was a good deal for a very smart TV with Netflix and Prime Video already installed. (Being a Prime member already, I will be glad to be able to watch movies on a larger screen.) Also has button for HBO, to which I do not subscribe, and VUE, which I never heard of. So, remembering that someone on here recommended buying a digital receiver to be able to get local major networks for free. I sent off for an inside version a couple days ago and it arrived today and I installed it. It only found 17 channels, most of which were Hispanic and does not pick up my “ local” major network stations. Mind you, my “local” stations are 60 miles away in El Centro, CA, as there are no stations in Yuma. I noted that one of the new antenna channels displayed as PBS, my favorite channel to watch...BUT, this station programming appears to be Sesame Street for religious fanatics. One program was ending as I powered on and another started in two minutes. Both programs are brain-washing for children to be one of “god so children”. No wonder there are so many religious fanatics. None of the three major networks shows up and, even though I would not watch it, I checked out the FOX channel and it is all in Spanish. I am returning the antenna.

Fun . . . BUTTTT::::: Last year Samsung issued a warning about saying anything personal near a "smart" tv, since everything is recorded and sent to headquarters.

I suggest you disable voice control.

ALL the "smart" things are recording everything you and your children say.

DO NOT USE THEM!

I use my DVR for Everything, even football, can fast-forward through all commercials, hit "delete" anytime something is not as expected. Live TV SUCKS!

You’re with it 🙂 Four of us have given up talking Dad into a setup like that. He’s ‘old school,’ still recording on VHS machines, avoiding news on sports scores … but fast-forwarding through commercials..

The rare times I’m exposed to commercial TV or radio any more leave me feeling ‘that’s’ why the nation’s screwed up. Religious or Commercial hype & garbage. They definitely feed on the poor..

Dropped both netflix and local cable with my smart TV. I’m either streaming input ..or the endless content from Youtube, and loving it. They’ve started a subscription plan that skips their adds, but I’d like to hear some experienced reviews before buying into that.

For me, the Youtube links and various Podcasts are keeping me entertained so far this winter … when I’m not out & about or tinkering with various projects 🙂

The FCC web site will pretty accurately show what stations and how strong you can get them from your address. I live in a hole and it shows my location with one or two crapy stations but on the hills all around me they get good signals.
