Is it so, that poets with ideas such as Dylan Thomas’ ‘green fuse’ and Eliot’s ‘still point of the turning world’ in Burnt Norton are always a few steps ahead of the scientific mind?
The metaphysical realm still exists, independent from belief systems, because it is fueled by our endocrine system.
now please explain that one to me. our endocrine system?
@JeffMesser I will do that, but give me some time. I have to get the second shingles shot this morning,; heavy snowfall is forecast, and have to prepare for the Water Authority guy to come and exchange a battery in the meter in the basement.
@Spinliesel ok. I will be waiting. when you get time. I am interested in reading your view.
@JeffMesser Hi Jeff, the day is done, so now I can concentrate on your question. First of all, the human mind is the universe. We can discuss this endlessly, but if we are not here to observe and experience it, it is not there. Basta! As they say in Italian.
While we exist and experience the universe, out endocrine system creates complicated, sublime realities on its own, dependent on how glands and neurons and nerves are stimulated: take the English writers Samuel Taylor Coleridge, Elizabeth Barrett Browning, and Charles Dickens who all took opium to expand their reality or current American artists, Ginsberg, Morrison, Previn. All recognized that the way to metaphysical experiences and creations led through manipulating or revving up their endocrine system.
I know from experience that there is no enhanced reality outside of myself. I have to create it.
@Spinliesel very insightful. that's advaita vedanta. it's a secular (of one so chooses) vedic belief from several millenia ago. welcome to the club. namaste
