I looked at the results at The Guardian. The number of votes seems low, but The Guardian reports a 67% turnout.

I never really looked at UK election results before. It kind of reminds me of the Electoral College here in the US regarding the number of seats needed.

Been listening to it all night… When someone occasionally cuts through it, though, it appears the same issue that got trump elected over here - immigration. And, I get it.. And, when it’s ignored by progressives, this is what happens.

It's a western nightmare, UK, US and here in Australia. Increasingly older populations, poorly informed, limited sources of information, angry, don't know who to blame and don't understand class and power, attracted to 'strong' conservative reactionary autocratic leaders. Looked at from a distance, I see the evolution of capitalism away from the west, the resulting decline in western consensus and systems, and the growth of autocracies. Gods knows what Johnson will do now he has a 'mandate'. I fear Trump will win again too, and his autocratic tendencies will be unstoppable. Our smiling god-bothering PM is no better, no doubt encouraged by the trends in the UK and US. Old populations, reactionary thinking, and autocrats ready to take advantage of it. It will get worse before it gets better, if it ever does.

Got to agree. I feel sorry for the guys still there
