I am a 100 % sure atheist! The Bible is a fairy tale! Try to imagine an omnipotent being (God) who does not need anything or anyone, but decides one day to create a universe in which he places animals, including man, and other livings beings that need to kill other creatures for their survival. This is gross enough! But the most ridiculous part is that God needs to be adored and thanked by humans and that those who don't comply will be subjected to his eternal revenge. This imagined God would be a narcissist, and also a sadistic maniac. This story does not pass a rational examination.

But how to answer the question of where does the universe come from? Since obviously it does not come from a God, we must examine the universe to try to find an answer to this question.

The universe is a result of the transformation of energy under its various forms. We must search around the theories about atoms, electrons, positrons, neutrons, and the attractions and repulsions.

Does a God pushes a positive charge towards a negative charge? Obviously not. The positrons do not need a push. They behave as if they had a mind of their own. The universe is the result of the interactions of various forms of preexisting energy. There is no new energy that a God would have created. Nothing is lost and nothing is created. Everything is continually changing.

If we look at different kinds of living things, it is impossible not to notice that all of these, including mammals, can be considered as a left side and a right side, left eye, left arm, left leg. left foot, right eye, right arm, right leg, right foot. Birds, insects, fish and other animals have a similar arrangement, left and right, for their propulsion on land, in the water or in the sky.

The basic shape of living things is the one mentioned above. Each living thing is like another living thing for all the essential functions. Why not more variety? What a great lack of imagination is this for an omnipotent and super-intelligent creator? The truth must be that these similar shapes are caused by natural forces, always the same, that affect every living things.

All things considered, there is no need to interrogate self-proclaimed representatives and messengers of God.

The end is near! The end of deceit!

There are so many unknowns, especially the unknowns we don’t even know are unknown yet!

Entanglement for one. Particles ‘travelling’ faster than light another. Dark matter. Who knows what is going on?

We have no other alternative than continuing to explore the universe with the hope of eventually solving the mystery of life in everything that comes to life, grows, ages and dies! Thank you for your comment!

@evhemere ...and what would you do if it was discovered there was an over-arching intelligence. Would you embrace it or just disbelieve?

I am agnostic about god in the since that I if god is claimed to be unkowable then I can't know what I by definition can not know. This being said I am 100 % certian by what I do know that there is no god.
P.S. How can anyone tell me anything about an unkowable god?

Good to have you here amongst the atheists.

It does seem to me that since that the old religious claim, "Someone had to create the universe, you can't get something from nothing" has been destroyed by science, there's nothing left for them to hang on to, other than their inner child attachment to a big Boppa in the sky.

Whenever the theist makes the claim that something can not come from nothing the next line is....wait for it......God made something from nothing. This destroys their claim. It amazes me that both theist and atheist miss this all the time. I simply point this out and don't let them continue even when the use special pleeding to say "but god can do anything".
" Really" I respond, " then something can come from nothing and your premise is false by your own account."
The rest of thier arguemnet also fails but I like to keep it simple.

@DavidLaDeau well yes, but god is the "creator" so all things created must have a creator, according to that logic. The obvious prick in that religious bubble is, "OK, then who or what created God, and the thing that created that......? etc" God doesn't need a creator, they reply, but the universe does. Religious logic, or rather lack of. Truth is, they just want a big daddy provider in the sky, like a child wants a daddy provider.

PS: David, when you hit level 8, which must be close, we will expect a post with a pic of you wearing the Agnostic.com Tshirt. Even I did that. You will look better than I did, doubtless. 🙂

@David1955 Apologetics is the art of providing a "resonable defence" to an unreasonable god. It boggles my mind why a god would want fallable human to stick up for her.

@DavidLaDeau I thought Apologetics was about religions apologizing for their enormous sins against humanity! Shows you what I know, right? 🙂

@David1955 I just about pissed myself laughing! One must be careful of ones commentary!
