2019 is now the hottest year on record for the earth. July was the hottest month ever recorded. Record storms and flooding are not unique anymore not even surprising. Weve starting to just accept this as normal. Normalizing climate change is a dangerous program for humanity. I was watching the news channel and it was mentioned how nice the weather was in Chicago (in the 60s) for December. It's not nice it's disastrous! California now has a year round fire season, there are hundreds of major fires in Australia. What small or major thing have you done concerning climate change? Rooftop solar, hybrid or EV car, maybe attend cc meetings or commit to renewable power from the utility? Will you try and do something to bring awareness of climate change in 2020?

Rooftop solar, LED bulbs, plug-in hybrid. One of these days I might add house batteries and a second inverter, or if things get crazy enough, a whole-house generator for emergencies.

The plug-in hybrid (a Subaru Crosstrek) is new, and my wife and I feel it's one of our best purchases. It only has a range of 17 miles, but that's more than enough for running errands most days in our small city. In practice, we're running 100% electric about 95% of the time. For infrequent road trips, the internal combustion engine kicks in and I put it in "charge" mode. By the time we reach our destination, we can switch back to electric to tool around the destination city.

As a bonus, it's our first all wheel drive car and it's so much more sure-footed (and has a better safety rating) than the 2012 Prius "mild" hybrid we traded in. That thing was always top-heavy and squirelly in a crosswind.

Charging from empty on a normal 117 volt outlet takes about 5 hours, 20 min. Adequate for our purposes, so no cost for a fast charger necessary.

It's a nice compromise with zero range anxiety.

Great! I'm impressed. You are an example for us all.

some people at work absolutely insist that climate change is not an issue. 😖

You must work with some ignorant people. I know some folks like that also but most people know its happening but just don't know what they can do or aren't really concerned because they haven't lost their home or work place yet.

@rogueflyer yes, they should know better. They are Medical Techs with enough knowledge of Science, etc. I've lost patience with them all.

@KittensandSage Lotta Republicans in SD.

@rogueflyer it is so bad in that respect. All other respects good,, but the right wing stuff is hard to understand. Stupid is hard to understand. I shouldn‘t have said that lol. Not everything is wrong, but currently I have no idea what these people believe in excepting greed

@KittensandSage Yes, I have trouble understanding that also but then we're rational. Many of them believe in an invisible friend floating around in the sky that will make everything alright.

@rogueflyer Ramen 😁
