IMO what stinks even more is that the left wing news media have successfully demonized what they call “evangelicals” and associated them with the Trump phenomenon. The truth is that only a quarter of the population is “evangelical”, and half of those are inactive. Only 11% are “Christian Conservatives”. It is true that protestants tend to be conservative, but correlation is not causation. In other words, people did not vote for Trump because of their religion. You’ve got people like Hilary Clinton, Jimmy Carter, Al Gore, all “Evangelicals”—explain that.

Trump was elected by a broad swath of the population—by people of various description. You don’t hear anything about those stinking conservative Catholics in Pennsylvania do you? That’s because most of the news outlets are in the Northeast and Catholics are not a safe target for demonization there.
