My son and daughter in law just returned from their honeymoon in Australia where they visited several cities, including Sydney. Now New South Wales is on fire.

They have to do something about climate change before the planet either burns up or we all drown. This is insane!

Although I am not near these fires there is a real sense of frustration and sheer sadness around these across the nation that I have never seen at such a level before. If this doesn't drive home the importance of addressing climate change, nothing will.

California has suffered through numerous wildfires. Trump's solution? We should "rake the forests" to prevent forest fires. We have serious leaderships issues, not just here, but around the world. They just don't care.

50 years ago over population was a real concern - maybe not so much in Australia but worldwide. I think we have not just the people we elected to govern but the MSM to blame for never taking over population, the ensuing environmental issues related to more people and shifting climate conditions much more seriously. It's rolled into a perfect storm.

Yes, literally. Well put!

Who is "they"?

Governments... working in unison. Of course Trump just pulled us out of the climate accord.
Truth is, the reverence for endless wealth is the problem. Corporations putting profits over people is the problem. Scorched earth policies are the problem. As long as rich people are running the world, nothing will be done until there's nothing that can be done. And then it will be too late
