"If I were not an atheist, I would believe in a God who would choose to save people on the basis of the totality of their lives and not the pattern of their words. I think he would prefer an honest and righteous atheist to a TV preacher whose every word is God, God, God, and whose every deed is foul, foul, foul." Isaac Asimov

My Grandfather didn't believe and was the kindest, most loving man I knew. Yet if Adolf Hitler accepted Christ on his deathbed, then he's saved, regardless of his actions. I find it hard to believe that a 'kind' and 'loving' God would grant such a thing. Though I believe in an existence post death, I'm yet to find out what that is.

Don't forget $$$$$$$$$$$ Isaac

I'D believe in a God who was at war with the god the Christians worship.
Mine would demand nothing, give everything joyfully, and eventually defeat the Christian god and restore Paradise.

In this particular fantasy, the Christian God the Father (and Allah and Yahweh) were actually the devil.

Why would you assume that god might exist, when you state he does or does not???

Assume making an ass of you and me: assume!!!

As an atheist I no longer believe in possibilities of a god trying to save anyone. Save you from what? Enough study on this shows that this god is trying to save you from what he will do to you if you do not believe in him.

Whether there is a God or not, nobody needs “saving” and there is no judgment, no sin. Humans create their personal hells through the constant thinking of untrue thoughts.

If there was a God, it would probably piss him off that so many people are making so much money off a book they didn't write.

Any such belief accepts a god who draws a line somewhere, and says the people on this side are saved and those on that line damned. We would not consider this healthy in a Human parent, let alone an all powerful being responsible for the creation of the universe.

"Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves. Matthew 7:15

Many will say to me on that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?' Then I will tell them plainly, 'I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!' Matthew 7:22-23

Yea, that's it . . .

Asimov was right here. BUT...Jehovah always demanded slavish devotion, sacrifice of children, a gazillion animals, mass murders, infanticide, etc. So, he wouldn't ''cotton to'' a quiet atheist. Jehovah doesn't favor intelligence or reasonable behavior.

@Psilovybin And a TON of sucking up!

As I have also heard it stated, does it make any sense that a supreme being is so insecure he needs us to kiss his ass eternally?

@alliwant No--unless you're a pathetic, insecure believer. Then you accept the "For I am jealous god" BS.
