Frankly Ken Ham may or may not be a true believer. I know he is fully aware that it is scientifically impossible in any feild of science. He has done the debates and these things have been pointed out to him time and time again. He is not ignorant, he is willfully lying. He cerfully crafts lies with deception in his publifications. Earning that kind of money for charity does not make him rich or famous. I honestly think that is the motivation. It's all make-believe. It's fantasy. And might even be a little entertaining. But children need to be told right away that it's just a kind of fairy tale that some adults fall for.

The only religious movie film that broke into the top 100 all time gross making moviesp. Was called,:Noah: staring Russle Crowe. More often called by christians as the most unbiblical movie ever made.

So they applied "reason" to the problem and "decided" the ark was 510 ft.

That is hilarious to me.

They used their reason to calculate the length of a proper cubit, but never considered the insects . . .

IF the ark story were true, then Noah's Family were the most pest ridden humans of all time!
They HAD to carry, flesh eating bacteria, scabies, crabs, intestinal worms, tapeworms, pinworms, lice and Bot fly larva, just to name a few.
As well as all the diseases which ONLY reside in humans, smallpox, typhoid, malaria, Diphtheria, TB and a host of others.

IF that tale were true, you could not fit the INSECTS alone. There are over 35,000 species of spider known, and an estimated 35,000 or more as yet undiscovered.

Not to mention little issues like elephants tipping the boat, the unsoundness of a wooden vessel of such size, ignoring the fact that other nations on the earth took no notice of the flood at all, or that there is just not enough water, or the reality that other people HAD boats already, and in a years time would have assaulted such an ark for the wealth of food it contained.

THEN as the final kicker, it would be the ultimate genetic bottleneck, reducing our DNA finger\print to the results of ONE family, making us ALL siblings by DNA. This would result in all sorts of birth defects and inbreeding within a generation.

It not only takes faith to believe this, it requires turning off your brain as well.

I am actually planning on going to see it this year. It will be a shame to give any $$$ support to Ken Hamm and his ilk, but this is just entirely too ludicrous to be missed.

What is amazing to me is that these people believed one man and his family, with no shipbuilding knowledge whatsoever, built this monster. They then were able to find creatures all over the world (including dinosaurs) to fill it. It's another childhood fantasy built on total nonsense and impossibilities. BTW Freedom From Religion Foundation has been very busy and have cost this monstrosity tons of money. One thing they do is to stop public schools from sending their classes to the place. No public money, whatsoever should go to promoting visits here. They even did a stealth visit and made a funny video.

He was interviewed by Ted Koppel, of the original "Nightline" TV show soon after it opened. So, he is seen, live, as it were, on tape, saying that he'd been driven to found said museum after he "...noticed that the evidence for evolution was becoming overwhelming." Thus, we have "overwhelming" evidence, "So I think I'll double down on sticking my head even deeper into the sand." It is this kind of idiocy that helps keep the fairy tales energized.
In direct answer to your question, the number of animals the ancients knew to exist, was a small portion of those that actually did. There were so many unknown unknown ones, such as the Black Swans that no one in Europe, Africa, and the Middle-East knew about until the British got to Australia, for instance. There were, are, millions of species of insects no-one knew about, oh, and then, speaking of Australia, from where did Noah get the kangaroos, etc.
Sadly, the people who would go to see this thing would be people who already buy the religious view hook,line and stupid sinker!

I had a great imagination as a child, and picturing children, babies, and animals drowning, per the story of the great flood I learned about in pre-school Sunday school class, generated nightmares for many years.

They got millions in tax breaks and State grants.

I think there should be criminal investigations into all parties involved.
