I really really like this quote-
"If I were not an atheist, I would believe in a God who would choose to save people on the basis of the totality of their lives and not the pattern of their words. I think he would prefer an honest and righteous atheist to a TV preacher whose every word is God, God, God, and whose every deed is foul, foul, foul." Isaac Asimov

But if there were a god, he/she would be responsible for those born sociopaths or narcissists. No one wants to be a sociopath. No wants to be so different from others, unable to connect because of their lack of empathy. Not their fault,,born with the genetic predisposition and the traumatic environment that made them that way. Can really blame them for not living good lives if god made them that way? (just another way of looking at things if there were a god).

There is a meme out on Facebook, shows a sign in front of a church that says 'God prefers kind atheists to cruel Christians'. I rather like that thought,.

You'd think. But that has little basis in actual scripture and is just feel-good progressive types making it up as they go along and going off-script. I rather like that they're enlightened enough to see it that way, but supposedly either they all will burn for eternity or mainly just the atheists.

@Rossy92 Since both are merely the fantasies of primitive minds, I don't really care one way or the other.

I often make a similar statement about hell. I say I don't believe in hell. But if I'm wrong , based on the Christian belief of what gets a person to heaven or hell, then send me to hell with the decent people who have tried to do the right thing and help others but don't believe in God. I wouldn't want to be with the hypocrites who believe in God but treat others like shit.

Since I live in the bible belt, I feel like this makes people think about it more without shutting down them even considering it be me just saying I don't believe in God.

If I were not an atheist....
That means I were required to believe in a god, but I suppose I can simply pick my own personal god??? I guess kinda like the Catholics with their guardian angel?? Does that mean he has a holy book I could read and study, to learn more about my god? What if I find out something about my god that i don't like or agree with?? Could i simply just change gods like foods?
That kinda sounds like state religion to me. I might be just reading into this question too much. But this is kinda my thought process.

Once you are enlightened why would you believe in any god?

Can't argue with that.

I am sure there will be someone who can or just do it for the sake of arguing.
