Are there any other Art Bell fans out there...? His late night call-in radio show Coast to Coast AM got me through many long night shifts when I found him back in the mid 90's... I have some of his greatest programs on cassette tape and I am happy to have found his archives online and can listen to my heart's content! You can find them online at Tune In Web Radio at The Ultimate Art Bell: [tunein.com]

To those of you that don't know of Art and his brand of entertainment - he started a call-in radio program first as a political talk show on Las Vegas radio station KDWN and later switched to paranormal subjects and his ratings skyrocketed and he was syndicated by Premier Radio Networks. At his peak his program had 2.7 million nightly listeners and was the highest rated night time program. The whole Y2K scandal got it's start with Art and I was lucky to hear the original program live in 1998 and laughed it off as just another conspiracy theory ...a year later it was on national news every night! Art did a special 24 hour program on Dec. 31, 1999 to watch for the end of civilization as we knew it - Ha! It seemed to be perfect for his late night time slot as the weirdos came crawling out of the woodwork... he later moved to his living room studio in Pahrump, Nevada and would have guests and celebrity interviews on his show and take phone calls. It was highly entertaining and he presented his guest for their views and never questioned or promoted any views - he left that up to his listeners. The more controversial the better and I laughed myself silly many nights ...from Bigfoot hunters to star gazers, ghost catchers, channelers, Aluminati, remote viewers, UFO watchers, and time travelers - even J.C. would call in regularly! Art was a great entertainer and some of his old programs are also available on YouTube they are classic Woowoo!

I was amazed that they passed it off as all real. I listened long enough to know it was not.

I don;t think they passed it off as real - they just passed it off as entertainment it was up to you to think if it was real or not and that is what made Art Bell so talented...

Not a fan, a friend of mine who listened to him thought it was all real.

The results were not good.

He was a lot more entertaining than the guy who replaced him but I wonder if he contributed to spawning the reality challenged society we have today.

I doubt if he changed anybody's mind - but he added his brand of entertainment value... yes his replacement radio hosts were not entertaining at all - Art was one of a kind and I still miss his whit.

My mother is a huge fan of Art Bell. Unfortunately she believes every guest that comes on his show. I've never listened to him myself.

Take a chance and listen with a view for his whit ...he was a master entertainer? ...and he brought out the best in his guests and the crazy callers too! ...it was an ongoing game with a coworker to debate if his guests were total fake scammers out to sell a book or video or if they actually were true wacko believers in their own BS? Either way it was a great way to pass the boring nights...

@FrostyJim Thanks for the link. I'll listen to him soon.
