Does anyone else suffer from LoL addiction?

I am very sarcastic, and sarcasm just doesn’t seem to translate well in text. Whenever I am with someone and say something very sarcastic, my extrmemly charming smile lets them know it is in jest.

However when I type it, and they can’t seem my charming smile, they get offended or ask if I am mad at them. Even my very close friends.

So now I find myself typing LoL every other line, and I get a lot of complaints that I use it too much. LoL ?

I am at a loss, what is a sarcastic boy to do?
I can’t quit being sarcastic. Pretty sure it has bonded with my DNA...

I've been lobbying for a sarcasm font for years. I obviously haven't been talking to the right people.

That is an awesome idea!!!!

Use LOL as much as you damn well please.
People are going to get offended over stupid stuff. You can't help that.
Nor should you try.

lol

I am sarcastic too or just twisted at times and much of my humor is lost. I think I need to learn to use more emoticons or LOLs

Yeah. Lol......... I am fluent in sarcasm, actually it’s more a normal thing for me. Sometimes I forget to check in on that, maybe that’s why I lose friends along the way from time to time. I guess it’s okay, I don’t really care to be with serious people, they give me a rash.

Gosh. That's a really big problem. LOL

At least I am not the only one suffering from it!

It is kinda funny that it even happened in this post! LoL

@Doug_in_Colorado We need a support group

@Rudy1962 sarcastic jerks anonymous- yeah like we really need help.

@Blindbird yaaaah.. It's not going to work

I have a big like of sarcasm.

You're exactly right. Even when it's obvious (to me), when I'm texting sarcasm, I indicate it with:

/sarcasm or /s

3

Maybe winky-face emoji? 😉
Granted, that one can probably be misinterpreted too, but...

Or the /s indicating that the previous bit was sarcasm, though in that case the reader probably would need to know that places on the internets use /s to flag sarcasm.

I love sarcasm

I'm super sarcastic and quick witted. In my family you have to be. That's how you know you're well liked. But it's so different when your texting, and I find myself putting "(insert sarcasm here)". I'm sure it doesn't really do much to convey whatthe sarcasm is about. But, it's me, so I'm going to be improper as much as I want

Yes! My family is pretty brutal as well!

Kinda like a pack of rabid wolves. Don't show weakness!

I learned early on , LOL meant Laughing Out Loud . However , recently a Facebook friend , began posting about a neighbor , who she finally took to an assisted living home , due to dementia , who she refers to as LOL (Little Old Lady) .

Some people can't handle my sarcastic nature either. It's just who I am. I don't do it to harm anyone or insult them. Some people take it that way though.

Sarcasm Font On, SFO, before or after a sentence. You hapless clown...

Really? People complain? WTF? Don't change. I like your sarcasm. There is not enough sarcasm in this world LOL 😛

I feel your pain. I made a 1/2 sarcastic post not long ago and got DOGPILED over it on here.

There is a segment of the population who can not grasp snark, sarcasm, irony and/or satire. These are the people who read an article from "The Onion" and explode, calling it "fake news" or getting enraged over what the article describes. Some of these people may do better in person, for precisely the reason OP explained. They are able to interpret the facial and verbal cues correctly and get that the intent is humor.

What surprised me the most about this lack of a "funny" bone in some was realizing that it was lacking. Having always enjoyed satire and being quite open to sarcasm, I assumed everyone at least understood it for what it was, even if they did not appreciate the form of humor. Shock me!! Run in any political groups on FB and you can't avoid the reality that some people just don't GET it.

I am an advocate for a universal emoji for satire/sarcasm/irony just so the satirically impaired could have a visual cue that they have encountered facetious content on social media.

Nope, not addicted to shorthand writing. I just type words out and if I spell something incorrect, oh well. Additionally, I've also not the slightest clue as to why emojis are a craze?
