Was a massive vinyl junkie, but had to sell up in the mid noughties, due to marriage and no room in new home. Have begun to collect vinyl again... Magical.

I like digital. I can pack my lifes favorites onto my phone that can do a dozen other things at the same time. I can mix them, hear them anytime anywhere.
I can sort them out to play according to my mood or to set a mood. I can listen privately or share with friends. I can even go loud for a party.

I still think the wax cylinder is best.

I was into records/ vinyl till my first partner fucking ruined them. I don't mind as long as the sound is great.

I have records I have 8 tracks I have cds I have mp3s I have a phonograph record I have an old man in my basement with a bagbipe

Nothing sounds better than music played on a narwhal. It's so natural and just smooth. Especially when you play sea shanties. Nothing like a good old sea shanty on a narwhal

The giants though? What will they use to get goats out of thier teeth?

I've got CDs and vinyl but it's probably Youtube because I'm too lazy to get up and change the record/disc lol

I like 8tracks....

They had a tendency to slip...you could hear one track in the background playing in reverse...

Well I have a nostalgic love of media defunct but the simplicity and convenience of digital is great!… That said, I still have a turntable & a huge pile of records, once in a while that’s fun, we would be silly to think the advances aren’t improvements. I like vinyl because it reminds me of when I was a kid but not so much because it’s better.

Back in the day, I had a pretty nice turntable and everything was on vinyl. I also transferred many of my albums to cassette tape (ya, I'm that old), and made lots of custom tapes for myself. Now I have stuff I want to keep permanently on CD and use my iPod Nano for playing back, making lists. Same with movies. Everything's on Blu-Ray and I use streaming services. I get the appeal of records tho and know some people who collect and maintain their music that way.

@Bierbasstard I remember when the big tech breakthru was auto-reverse cassette decks. LOL!

Digital now. I owned a few hundred vinyl records and actually spent one winter converting all to digital. Listened to each record while reading and now all on mp3's with multiple back ups. Bookshelf systems plays USB flash drives so I can listen to all my old music. Plus I like using online when I don't want to listen to anything in particular.

I prefer digital, especially since the bulk of my music listening is in the car and I like to travel light. But narwhals are a close second.

1

I prefer lossless digital when I can get it. I loved vinyl but gave in to the convenience of digital a VERY long time ago.

Records are great because it forces you to listen to all of the music, then physically flip it for the other side. It's a more engaging experience.

I have a record player, but I can’t take it to the gym with me.

Or the car.

Digital for new music

Hanging onto vinyls makes as much sense to me as insisting on eight track tapes, VCRs, Polaroid cameras, and driving a model T.
But whatever.
I still like to drive horses on horse carts, because it's more fun than riding in cars.

I bought a record player with Bluetooth capability this past Christmas and am just now starting to buy some vinyl. So far: The Joshua Tree by U2, Pet Sounds by The Beach Boys, and Rumours by Fleetwood Mac.

Nice choices!

Digital for the convenience, and because I can let Pandora find new music for me, things I probably wouldn't have heard otherwise. I'm no good at finding it on my own

It used to get tiring pulling a wagon full of records and a phonograph everywhere.

I chose Digital for the poll, for listening to music. My true favorite medium is an instrument, like a guitar, with which I would serenade you by the sea shore for sure.

Love the sound of vinyl (and narwhals) but I listen mostly on my commute so no room for record player or giant salt water tank.

Digital is convenient but LIVE is always the best 🙂. Local orchestra last night and live jazz Friday 🙂
