I find it interesting, the amount of older folks on here who claim to be evolved due to extricating themselves from religion, while still adhering to structures of oppression....i.e. homophobia, racism, etc.

At least religious people have an excuse for their bigotry. What's yours?

My excuse for my own bigotry is that I do not suffer fools (translation: those who are willfully ignorant) gladly. I also have no time for homophobes, sexists, racists, ageists, xenophobes, narcissists and anybody else who regards themselves as superior to other people.

What prevents your asking those you think are bigoted?

You inferred from my post that I take no action.....but nothing stops me, and I do question them. 😊

I block those folks as soon as their tiny little heads pop up.

That's usually also my go-to, however, allowing folks to remain comfortable in their bigotry feels like a failure on my part as an ally.

@bmchizzle I don't have that kind of time patience for ignorance anymore.

There is certainly an element of condescension for ‘the other’ here from a certain contingent.

But that’s people I suppose. Feelings of insecurity regarding decisions made until formulation of a new identity is grounded.

Doesn’t justify but does explain

That’s not been my experience around here…
