Members, this is just reporting. Just facts and questions for you.

Current number of delegates by candidates after 2 first and major Democratic primaries [npr.org]

  1. Buttigieg 22
  2. Sanders 21
  3. Warren 08
  4. Klobuchar 07
  5. Biden 06

Questions

  1. Bernie Sanders has had front page and headlines coverage in media and name recognition for 7 years in a row. So why Bernie is not at the top in primaries or polls or delegate count after huge fund-raising, hoopla, huge claims of strong, passionate candidacy and his ability to beat Trump?
  2. If a novice candidate who is half his age, came from nowhere like Buttigieg be at the top, make Bernie sweat, does Bernie look like a candidate who is catching fire, a candidate who is really leading and winning his own party?
  3. If Bernie or any candidate cannot win his own party hands down, how can any of them beat Trump in the general. You cannot successfully preach to your own choir?
  4. Does it look likely that Buttigieg or Warren will be close neck to neck in the delegate count before the nomination just like it happened in 2016?
  5. If Bernie is not nominated, will his followers sit 2020 out just like they did in 2016 and hurt Democratic Party's winning chances?
  6. Since many of Bernie's followers did not vote for Hillary in 2016, should Democratic Party just ban outside, non-Democratic candidate to hijack the platform for presidential run?
  7. Trump had said in 2016 that Bernie's nomination would be a dream come true. Don't you think Trump is really hoping that would really happen this time?
  8. Do Bernie's followers admit that he is not at the top and their hero is really not a paragon of political virtues? That he is a weak candidate?

I am looking for pragmatism and recognizing the reality here. Not passionate, emotional claims to prop up your candidate.

Here is the bottom line with this "BERNIE" question ...this Election is not about "Bernie...Pete...Warren...Biden"... OR WHOEVER...this Election is about one thing and one thing only...BEAT TRUMP...I understand that not everyone likes one candidate but what I am seeing here is a lot of fear and rhetoric being pushed by the so called "SELF APPOINTED PUNDITS" Rather than openly admit they are CONSERVATIVE RIGHT WING REPUBLICANS and attempt to do battle on a level playing field, they choose rather to hide behind the facade of some faux Reporter, or wanna be Editorialist, or fact finding surveyor to mask their real purpose which is to sew seeds of division into the general Democratic population. To be honest...pathetic.
The race is tight. We have candidates that are diverse. We are at a crossroad...we either get behind WHOEVER gets the nomination and not allow people like St Simon to split us as a party and DEFEAT THIS ABOMINATION that is in the White House or we face 4 more years of watching the destruction of everything good this country has been working towards for the last 244 years.
Don't allow the TROLLS to trash good people like Bernie or any of the other Democratic candidates. Get behind the eventual nominee and get EVERYONE you know who votes Democrat to get out and VOTE THEM IN...that is the only way we fix this problem...debating Bernies "democratic socialism" or trying to play the "he's Jewish" card at this stage of the game is nothing less than an underhanded cheap shot to try to destroy the Democrats March towards a November victory...see it for what it really is.
VOTE BLUE NO MATTER WHO...and we will kick this POS to the curb and let him float away in the gutter where he belongs.

Buttigieg is not a democrat, he is just pretending.

A registered elected Democrat is not a Democrat but an independent Bernie who is not even the main stream of the Democratic values deserves to win the nomination of the grand historic Democratic Party?

@St-Sinner Yes he does.

@St-Sinner Buttigieg is another bought and paid for politician. Bernie on the other hand has had consistency for over 30 plus years, voting against war, higher taxes on the rich, and several polices for the working class. Bernie's average donation is 18 dollars. Buttigieg doesn't even support medicare for all, I can't support someone who cares more about his billionaire donors than the well being of americans.

I don't like any bitter truth about anybody. It seems that the Dems want to run on "business as usual" and this cost them the election last time. It more than likely will this time also. Trump asked the Ukrainian president what he did because he already knew in advance that Biden would be his main opposition. Both sides take money from our controllers and top money interests. It's really all a matter of whether you think we need better healthcare and wages or not. It can never happen with the current regime.

Just the facts and then very loaded questions, posed with an obvious bias. You are in GOP territory with your tactics.
Do you know who will beat TRUMP out of all the Dem candidates? BERNIE, he is the only one to capture the imagination of the next generation of Americans and he is not even a Socialist in the eyes of the rest of the world, he's simply not an insane, potential POTUS -
which is a breath of fresh air for the first time in 30 years.

@OwlInASack You still have lipstick left for Bernie?

These Americans are off their nut, they wouldn't know how to vote in their best self interest if you drew them a map and laid down breadcrumbs.

@Surfpirate I can agree with it. We are so Conservatively fucked that we do not know what we are doing and what we should do.

But the solution to this problem is not Bernie. The solution is to work with the system, get a winning candidate to go down their throat and we kick their ass from the white house until cows come home day after day.

@St-Sinner try to get past the Us and Them outlook, there is no US in the USA system, it's just them because they bought and paid for everything decades ago. Once you get past the two party system BS, you can develop a shot at moving forward and actually winning.

@St-Sinner and your proposing we get rid of all our potential candidates and find someone "acceptable" ... With less than 9 months left in the race...YOUR A TROLL...go back to the Republican Party your not welcome here.

@phoenixone1 I have been saying since last January (2019). But it is never too late to stop the damage.

@St-Sinner sorry but nobody in their right mind would even consider switching this late in the primaries...just out of morbid curiosity...who would YOU suggest as a Democratic Nominee?

Shame on you! False numbers re: both Iowa & NH.
You are old enough to remember a vibrant, upwardly mobile Middle Class, and seen the tremendous decline since Reagan. You really, really think We the People are better off now, , & should keep going down this rabbit hole so multi-millionaires can be gazillionaires?

I’m like-minded. I voted for Hillary because the DNC the establishment fucked the voters and Bernie leaving me no choice. I didn’t like her but I knew the country would prosper versus where we are today. This years election is more than a dem win or a Bernie win—it’s about the 99% maintaining their position in this nation. We are seeing ppl busy and ignorant making emotional decisions based of lies and half truths not knowing the impact those decisions are and will have in their own lives and their families. My entire life I hear those speak of “if the govt tries and over throw the people we will “@&😉 “ Yeah yeah well they are doing it now and you are giving them the keys to the kingdom. Today they agree with the overthrowing of democracy because they are conned into believing it’s good for them. What happens when they no longer agree?!? Won’t matter because there will be no stopping them. This is OUR country not only “theirs” theirs equaling Rich white guys on top fuck them it’s our time

You make an assumption that there are only two choices. I have always voted as an Independent. Sometimes I have voted Democrat, sometimes Republican, and half the time neither. I couldn't care less if Trump is elected again. I will vote for whomever I think should be elected. Not on some party line vote. You still don't see the problem and think in a two dimensional fashion. Nothing will change if everyone thinks like this.

A vote for an independent is a vote for tRUMP...you say you couldn't care less if tRUMP is re-elected...that says it all. At least your honest. Sorry you feel that way though...that kind of apathy is what got us into this mess in the first place.

No mention of Bloomberg? Supposedly he has the money and knows how to play the game.

Bloomberg is dismissed by everybody. It is a matter of time when he will drop out. I am paying attention to candidates who are making huge claims with a big hoopla and splash but are failing got live up to it... like Bernie and Biden.

@OwlInASack How can I be anti-semitic or racist? I have a Jew friend and I have a black friend... lol

@OwlInASack Don't worry, after Bernie Sanders crashes and his ass is hit out of the park by the worst president ever, called Trump, the dust will settle, the grass will look greener, you will see the birds are singing again and the wind breeze is so refreshing again.... There is a light at the end of the tunnel.

@OwlInASack I will rejoice because the Democracy would be saved, We will make a rule that will not allow rogue candidates like Bernie to claim the party platform for presidency and give it a bad name. We must keep the fringe and extreme elements out of the party. Else we are going to look just like the white supremacists of Trump.

@OwlInASack I call it facts, you call it lies. That is not objectivity. That is a bias and blind faith in Bernie.

@OwlInASack

Our answer to the Republican lies is not a retort with a terrible alternative that is a self destructive.

I have no love for Republicans or Trump. I hardly vote on party lines. I try to see what my candidate is like and whether he or she will vote his or her conscience or just be a rubber stamp. I like some of Trump's issue handling, his gutsy actions, defiance of the political correctness etc. but hate everything else about him.

We all dislike our enemy on different levels but we must like our candidate. We must like our positioning. He or she must be sound and can win. On all counts Bernie fails. I am not criticizing Bernie because I do not like him. I am fighting the madness of running after a weak and non winnable candidate that will bring a defeat to Democrats for the history books and will keep Democrats out of power In Washington and all state houses for many terms to come. It can happen. It happened somewhat during Obama. In 2015, more than 53% state houses were under Republican control that could decide on voters registration, Gerrymandering, gender bathrooms, abortion and Medicare participation. We have to think about it all. Just look at how emboldened Republicans are after defeating Hillary. I cannot imagine what Trump will do after a massive victory that will look like a landslide. One generation's life will change for ever if not of more generations'. America as we know will have deeply changed.

If you want to beat Trump, we cannot be in love with free healthcare. We must love only and only with one ething... Defeat Trump. Bernie cannot do it.

I think a lot of people are gonna vote Buttiege simply to have a president with the word 'butt' in the name.

It feels like that kind of election year.

hmm.. too much Edge Edge?

What is amazing here is a 38 year old novice is making an experienced, 78 year old presidential candidate with huge funds, campaign network on the ground.... sweat in two first and important presidential primaries.

@Imatheistically and he is amazing he is a road scholar and speaks several languages he is quick on his feet he has religion that is not fake like some of the Christians in our country and think what trump will do when he is beaten by a queer hell have a fucking heart attack it will be glorious

@maturin1919 whats funny about being smart and he is a vet lots of reasons he is a good candidate and will make a good president hell a trans gay lesbian purple rock would be better

@maturin1919 im not and I knew I should have not made any comments but I let myself get drawn in I don't know all that hoity toity shit but I thank you for the correction im sure at one point I knew that I just forgot sometimes my fingers forget proper spelling and nit picky crap that at the moment im not worried about and I do sincerely thank you for the correction I see now you were not laughing at him being one but at me for not using the correct word and that is cool thanks I laugh at my own stupidity all the time

@maturin1919 Cory Booker was Rhodes too.

I saw anothe photo of Bernie , after he won . It does look close , but once they got some of the problems sorted out , he came out on top .

But after the huge fundraising, two time presidential runs, name recognition, troops on the ground, all network on the group, huge claims of popularity, Bernie taking the country by storm, the hoopla, and so much experience in running for president.....

should he be struggling?

@St-Sinner in a field of what, 7 candidates, to come out on top both times is phenomenal

@AnneWimsey Bernie should have done better but his base is not as strong as he thought and he did say his people should back whoever won to defeat trump so this time he is not dividing

@St-Sinner I mean it doesn't help that corporate and corrupt dems do whatever they can to make sure bernie doesn't win.

@Tejas it is a good effort. Berni'es damage must be stopped.

@St-Sinner Bernies damage wth are u talking about? Any dem candidate other than him is literally the same shit different election cycle. Really research neoliberalism. This election is beyond the dem and rep. They are all the same. Corp whores who are for sale to the highest bidder. Actually I don’t care I plan on leaving this shit show if a country as soon as I can. People are happier elsewhere. Those socialists in the EU live a standard much higher than Americans. No one including Bernie is pushing or wanting economic socialism, healthcare was non profit till Nixon. Today money is more important than people in healthcare it’s profit profit profit. I’m wasting my time lipstick
On swine. Keep thinking you are progressive cuz you aren’t you fear change. You prolly think FDR was insane too right? Fools

  1. Because the democratic party is to diverse to go lockstep behind anyone. So diverse, in fact, that some won't even vote for a canidate besides thier own, damn the consequences.

  2. I thought Bernie was an independent, not a dem.

  3. The primaries are to select the eventual person to support. I'd be much more worried if someone were sweeping up all the miniscule number of votes cast so far.

  4. No idea.

  5. I'm kinda hoping they opt to hold thier breath, stamp thier feet, and ball thier little hands into tiny little fists and get the tantrum out of thier system, then vote against Trump. We'll see what happens, though.

  6. I wish they would. Off the top of my head I can't think of anyone who hijacked a party and it wasn't a disaster.

  7. No, I think Trump is hoping that the elections are so corrupt it doesn't matter who the opponent is. Last thing he wants is an actual election.

  8. No, the primary process is so fucked up that declaring anyone a winner/loser now is just a fools errand - which is why the media does it.
