It is a moot point. An unproductive discussion. That is the rule of the game and the sooner we get good at it the better. If we dont, we will have to continue bitching that "Oh, but Hillary Clinton won the popular vote in 2016."

I think you mean that it is a moot point, which it isn't, it's very relevant.

You moderates already are good at it. It benefits you rather than the true winner. That's why it exists, to keep the status quo, to enure that the powers that be remain in power.

If you can understand that the electoral college victory of Trump was unfair to Hillary, why is it hard to see that a super delegate victory for some moderate is unfair to Sanders?

@RoboGraham

Correct. It is a moot point. Thank you.

If you want to play the game, follow the rule and not bitch about it. Else stay out, mobilize resources to get the rule change and you and your party, candidate don't come back to bitch until it is done. Every elementary school educated person should understand it.

The DNC has a platform and a machine, and wants to support the candidate that closest matches their platform and machine. Most of the current dem presidential candidates know and accept that. They super delegates are there to pick the best DNC member, it has almost nothing to do with you or me or our votes.

Bernie is the lone candidate that stands to be pushed out by the super delegates, at least in terms of the few candidates who make it to the debate. The DNC installed the super delegate system specifically to prevent the popular will of the people, from hijacking their party goals and agenda. If Bernie didnt want to take that on, he should have run as an independent. It remains to be seen if he can successfully overcome a system that was designed to stop people like him.

Since we're a "need a majority not a plurality" to win system there needs to be a way to get to a majority. Superdelegates are one way.

Just another tool of corruption like the Electoral college!!!

The leaders of the Democrats are nothing more than obstructionist republican fascists still in the closet!!!

Overtly greedy and overtly controlling, lording over what they think is their personal playpen!!!

Was he penned by Stan Lee?

Since we've never heard of SD before it's probably a female superhero. 😟

@1of5 Could be or maybe even LGBT+.

What we don’t know is are they good guy or bad guy or perhaps neutral!

@Geoffrey51 I was going to say we'd know thier orientation by thier costume, but...uhm...well...anyways.

To some, a hero - to others a evil entity that thwarts thier hopey dreamy plans to fix the world.

Party loyalty not tied to the vote

Super delegates are either elected within the party or they are Democrats elected to govetnor or Congress. So in effect they are elected. Unfortinately they are almost always blue dogs. That is how they got elected yo begin with especially in red states.

Its the same principal as electing someone in Congress to represent you there. Progressive Oklahoma Democrats tried to take over the state party but they were no match for the experienced political hacks already in power. In addition. They gave up after the first go round.

Isn't odd how the organization which calls itself the Democratic Party allows it's leaders to be selected in such an undemocratic fashion?

Elites and party insiders subverting the will of the people is not democracy.

It's so much like the electoral college it should be unconstitutional. 😉

Me neither.
