I teach business people English in France, by online, and I am hearing that French companies are cancelling
projects in China, relocating functions, and taking a different view long term about reliance on China. These are big decisions, not little tin pot decisions. So, I think your post is right, and not just the US, but Europe and elsewhere. China does need to be reigned in.

Will not change much!!!
Almost 80% of the ingredients for almost everything Pharmaceutical, grown, manufactured, or produced in the USA comes from China now!!!

You should probably remember that we can't compete with other countries. Back when we were the only world economy our economic system worked. Now that other countries have caught up, their wages don't compare with ours and we can't compete.

Some countries compete, for example Germany competes. I'm definitely not an economic expert but even though wages are rock bottom in many of those other countries the transportation cost for the raw materials and the finished products back to the consumer have to be astronomical. All that freight also has to burn fossil fuels contaminating our environment.

If you don’t trust a country why put your essential supplies in their hands.

@MissKathleen With patents, factories, and skilled workers not in the US, it would take at least a decade, and maybe more. Science education is being decimated by the GOP to keep voters ignorant politically, supported by fundamentalists who oppose evolution and other science.
@MissKathleen The real reason there are too few jobs is automation, which will ultimately put everyone everywhere out of work. We will all have to become self sufficient, as most people were before the industrial age. Start by growing a garden.
