Does anyone feel they are becoming addicted to this site?
I pay attention to other people’s addictions and try to avoid them myself. However, This site is mostly to blame in awaking my thinking and writing process and I feel I am spending so much time sitting (winter is slack time even here) that I may have to get new pants because my butt is getting bigger. I mentioned this to a gym buddy and she said “didn’t you know, big butts are in”. She is a major jogger and her derriere is tiny. If this happens I will pass the buck and blame agnostic.com?!

I get a good amount of instant knowledge here from people who are experts and authorities in their field of endeavor. No school in the world can provide me with that . . . plus, I can even drink and smoke in the "classroom."

Everything in life has a price associated,you are awakening,very good but the price is a big bum. Good trade off in my view,but then again I am over 50 do so maybe an age thing.

Seems Lopez Island has no bargain clothing stores. You just have to give yourself enough time to take a walk. Based on Google maps, seems the entire island is like a park. It seems the air there is fresh and sweet all year round.

Oh but we do! We have a very active thrift store that actually earns enough to give out grants! On top of that the thrift store was started to provide funding for our medical clinic.
Also, but not least, We are famous for our dump/transfer station and it's take it or leave it facility (a picture appeared in our paper of the governor, who was visiting the islands, getting an item from the facility while at the dump! A lot of people, including myself, get some clothing there. Also, we are not one island but an archipelago of some 175 named islands (in the U.S. - there are more on the Canadian side). Ours is actually the 3rd smallest.
@JackPedigo: as always, my comment was meant to be a joke in reference to your having to get new pants. I got curious about Lopez Island in Washington State. Because of its name I thought it is somewhere in Southern California or the Gulf Region. That place of yours in the border with Canada looks so squeky clean with life so slow that people tend not to grow old.
Being a Filipino, I sometimes get confused with Washington State and Washington DC and British Columbia and the District of Columbia. I give a lot of credit to the NBA and Major League sports for my knowledge of American geography, and, Hollywood and cable tv for instant lessons in American history and culture.
The island was named after Gonzalo Lopez de Haro the Spanish naval officer who was the first European to discover the Archipelago. The original native name was Swalech. By the way the archipelago (and county) is named San Juan Islands. The other islands are San Juan (county seat), Orcas and Shaw (these are the 4 ferry served islands).
Life can be slow or fast whatever one wants. Islands in this part of the country are known for their slow pace and a nickname for us is 'Slopez' (but for some of us it is not true).

It is addictive, for me, because of the many varied but, reasonable, posts and comments. It expands the mind and get's you thinking more.
